Well, as September rolls past, maybe only a few of us are feeling all too comfortable in our new environments that have been brought on by the inevitable, momentous, and yet all-too-soon graduation.  It is only two months (or maybe three?) after this class graduated on July 14, 2001.  Now, as many of us are beginning the rigors of college and some of us are once more shipped away to strange lands with strange tongues, we continue to remember that there is One in control of it all -- through the thick and thin (some of us not so thin after weekly visits to BurgerKing, McD's, and the infamous TacoHell.)  Anyway, it is often a comfort to remember our creator in the time of our youth.  So, in fact, this dotious column as we shall call it not to take away the copyrights of 'the' Dot Column, has become a sort of place for me, the writer, to try and sum up some issues for you, our class.  However, it is most difficult to get a grasp of what lies around us unless we can take a step away from it to comprehend its nature. (For those who are now lost, don't worry, it isn't important).

Anyway, the point of the matter being that we have faced many hardships in light of adjusting and the tasks that go along with that in the past few months.  Some people have commented on the changes in surrounding, climate, language, and activities.  As I write this I am in my apartment, (something totally new to me), and I am recalling today how one jamaa in my class exclaimed, "Man, this is totally weirding me out!" I am sort of a low life because I go to a geek college and I am becoming a geek myself as I actually enjoy sitting in front of this machine for four to six hours a day just dotting and bogging on the internet.  However, the only other alternative at my college is to join with the merry men who succeed in downing a case a day and two on the weekends.  So, I am satisfied with my choice.

However, these are not the only up and coming shocks.  It seems that more often than not we have noticed the people.  I believe this is often due so much to the fact that we miss each other, our friendships, closeness, and comfort.  We are noticing that others around us have an apparent shallowness to them.  Now, the disclaimer here is that I said, apparent.  So, we often find that people we try to make friends with are so caught up and distracted by such trivial matters such as being concerned with their cell phone costing them an extra $5 a month, that we lose interest rather quickly.  It has happened to me more than once that I have taken the effort to introduce myself to establish a friendship and I am so turned off by what they have to talk about that I don't ever talk to that person again.  It seems to be a fairly universal thing for many people and we are all learning to deal with it in our own way.  Of course, there are the few who find those people that they have clicked with so well from the start.  They are much blessed.  So, in conclusion, I would like to say that if you feel this way, don't feel that you are a bit abnormal, there are many others who feel that way.  If you don't feel this way at all, don't feel that you are a bit abnormal, you are unique.  And if you feel differently, I give you my consent.  So, thank you for reading.... you put up with a lot. :)
