Chapter 7: the counsel of Elrond.
As Malarka had instructed the night before, they all met in the hallway of their bedchambers at seven in the morning. They were dressed in grey dresses and white lace through covers. Malarka had given them to the elves for she told that grey and white were the colors of Silme. Soon, Oin and Malarka walked up the three she-elves.
‘Where are we going?’ Kal asked, walking beside Morril. Kal had become worried. Morril was not acting her normal self.
‘We are heading to a secret counsel. The same one as last night, Kal.’ Malarka said. ‘There will be dwarves, elves, man and hobbits present to discuss the events of Mordor.’ Malarka said.
‘Just because we live near Mordor, doesn’t mean we know about it, or it’s master.’ Tintil interjected.
‘I know that, as does Lord Elrod.’ Malarka said. ‘Come, we do not want to be late. There are many introductions to make.’
The group followed Malarka through the beautiful hallways and passages of Rivendale, soon they came to two double doors. Beautifully carven, Malarka opened the doors and held them for the elves and dwarf. As they entered they were greeted by many eyes looking at them.
‘It almost seems like they have never seen an elf before!’ Oin grunted.
‘Thank you Oin.’ Tintil rolled her eyes. Malarka beconded them to follow her. Lord Elrond was sitting in a chair, that was beautifully carven in the same design as the doors. There was no ceiling to the counsel room, just arches that held up a light cloth, blocking some of the morning light.
‘Malarka, it is good to see you this morning. Even if you bring bad tidings with you.’ Lord Elrond said standing up. The elves bowed as they reached Lord Elrond.
‘Good morning. Please take your seats near the elves of Mirkwood, introductions will be held when the hobbits of the shire have come.’ Lord Elrond said as he pointed to 5 chairs. The elves bowed and walked over.
‘You have the honor of sitting near Prince Anorolas.’ Kal whispered to Tintil. Morril and Oin held back laughter and Tintil blushed.
Soon, the two child like creatures, Morril was staring at last night, came into the open counsel room. Lord Elrond smiled when he saw them.
‘As we are all here, I will make introductions. To my immediate left and right are my sons. To my right, you will see, Estel, my adopted son, A Ranger of the North. Following his are Men of Minas Tirith. One is Boromir son of Denathor, seward of Minas Tirith. Next comes from the east are the Dwarves of the Lonely Mountain. Gloin and his son, Gimli. An Elf from the Gray Havens, Galdor. Of the Mirkwood realm, Prince Legolas and Anorolas, messangers of their Father, Thranduil, King of the elves of Northern Mirkwood. Elves from the South, of the Ash Mountains have come. Morril Lightbreeze, Tintiloss Morningstar, Thalionkal Moonflower. A Dwarf from the Ash Mountains, Oin Goldenstone. Wizards, Gandalf the Grey and Malarka the Green. Hobbits from the Shire, halflings known to most, Bilbo Baggins and his nephew Frodo Baggins. Let us start.’ Lord Elrond said sitting down.
Much news came from the South, mostly of Minas Tirith and of the troubles of other realms and civilations of other races. Gloin from the Lonely Mountain talked of Balin, one of the 13 dwarves to take back the Lonely Mountain, leading a group of dwarves to Moria. Than of a Rider dressed in Black coming and asking about hobbits. Lord Elrond than spoke of that all the races came here for guidance in the nick of time. He than spoke of the Tale of the One Ring and how it became lost, and the greed of Isildur. Boromir stood up just as Malarka stood.
‘Excuse me Milord, you may speak.’ Malarka said as she sat down. Boromir spoke of the tidings of Mordor and how Minas Tirith holding back the evil forces. He said that he had a dream that brought him to Rivendale. Speaking of the One and the broken sword.
‘All shall be made clear to you. Here is the sword that was broken!’ Strider said as he took out a sword and set it on a table in the middle of the circle.
‘What would a Ranger be doing with this?’ Boromir asked curiously.
‘He is no mere Ranger!’ Legolas said standing up. ‘He is Aragorn, son of Arathorn. You owe him your allegiance.’
‘This is Isildur’s heir?’ Boromir asked to no one.
‘An heir to the throne of Gondor.’ Legolas added.
‘Havo dad, Legolas.’ Aragorn said standing.
‘It is yours than!’ Frodo said standing up. Tintil and Kal looked at each other and than at Frodo with a sad smile.
‘It is neither of ours. You have been choosen to hold if for a while.’
‘Frodo, bring the Ring. Boromir will have the rest of his dream fulfilled.’ Gandalf said as he looked sadly at Frodo.
‘Behold the One Ring of Power.’ Lord Elrond said. Boromir than talked of his dream again. Bilbo spoke up about lunch, Lord Elrond smiled and told Bilbo to tell his tale of him finding the Ring of Power. Bilbo told the counsel of this journey and the finding of the Ring in the Misty Mountains.
‘Well told. Now let your heir, Frodo tell of his adventures with the Ring.’ Lord Elrond said. Frodo stood up and looked around, he repeated everything from the leaving the Shire to Rivendale.
‘I would like to hear more. Specially of Gandalf.’ Frodo said to Bilbo sitting down. Galdor from the Havens, heard and nodded.
‘I to would like to hear more of Gandalf’s adventures.’ Galdor said looking at Gandalf than to Lord Elrond. ‘I would like to know if the trove that the halfling carries is the Ring of Power.’
‘The answers to your questions are bond together.’ Gandalf said. Gandalf told of Saruman the Wise and how he fooled him by telling that the Ring of Power was lost in the Mighty Anduin. Gandalf told of the finding of Gollum and Aragorn taking him to the Forest of Mirkwood. Gandalf explained that he went to Minas Tirith to find out more of the Ring of Power.
‘There amongst the scrolls and scrolls I my quest came to an end. There I found what Isildur wrote of the Ring of Power. He spoke of a writing on the band that could only appear by fire. Ash nazg durbatuluk, ash nazg gimbatul, ash nazg thrakatuluk agh burzum-ishi krimpatul.’ Gandalf spoke in a menacing, powerful voice. A shadow fell around the wizard and the counsel.
‘One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them, One Ring to bring them all and in the Darkness bind them.’ Gandalf repeated in common tongue.
‘That is wear Isildur made a grave mistake.’ Malarka stood.
‘At last, Malarka the Green talks of her news she bares.’ Lord Elrond said in grave interest.
'There was two rings of power forged in Mount Doom. The One and Minya Runya. The records of Sauron were not all destroyed. One was hidden. One that no one knew about. It lay hidden in the Ash Mountains near Barad-Dur. There it told of the One and Minya Runya. It explained that once the Dark Lord took over Middle-Earth, Sauron would take a Bride and give her Minya Runya. Together they would rule Middle Earth. Only, Sauron was defeated and the One lost. Minya Runya became lost also. Minya Runya became lost in the Ash Mountains. There came a group of elves and dwarves from Mirkwood and the Lonely Mountain. There a he-elf found Minya Runya. He gave it to his bride. They bore a she-elf…the Dark Lord’s Bride.’
‘You can’t be talking about Morril!’ Kal said jumping up. ‘She…she…she…can’t.’ Kal said sitting down. The counsel was stunned.
‘How do we know that what you say is true?’ Boromir asked.
‘I have given Lord Elrond the scroll that Sauron told of The One and Minya Runya.’ Malarka said. ‘We can not let the Dark Lord get either the One or Minua Runya or his future bride. I have brought her here. Morril Lightbreeze.’ Malarka said pointing at Morril. Morril was under a trance.
‘You have to be mistaken. I…I…why me?’ Morril asked.
‘You have the power to ruin or save Middle Earth…To save Middle Earth, the One, Minya Runya and…You, Morril…must be destroyed.’ Malarka said.
‘Is this true!’ Anorolas asked standing up looking at Lord Elrond.
‘Yes, Prince Anorolas. It is all true. The Rings and Morril…must be destroyed.’ Lord Elrond said. ‘There is too much risk in giving Lady Morril, the One and Minya Runya. One must take the One to Mount Doom.’ Lord Elrond said.
‘I will take it.’ Frodo said suddenly. ‘I do not know the way, but I will help Lady Morril on her journey.’ Frodo said. Morril smiled a shocked smile and walked over to Frodo.
‘I will help you bear the burden you have given yourself little one.’ Morril said kissing his forehead and standing up.
‘By my life or death, if I can protect you, I will. You have my
Sword.’ Aragorn stood up and walked over to knee in front of Frodo and Morril.
‘You have my bow.’ Legolas said walking over.
‘And my ax!’ Gimli said.
‘Morril isn’t going any where with some strangers!’ Oin grunted from his place by the Silme elves.
‘Yes! She isn’t going off by herself!’ Kal said standing up. Tintil stood up and walked over with Oin, and Kal.
‘I will help you on this journey, if it is yours to bare.’ Gandalf said looking at Frodo than Morril.
‘Malarka?’ Morril asked.
‘Morril, I have done my job. It is time that you do yours.’ Malarka said with a slight smile. ‘I know you can do this.’
‘Mr. Frodo isn’t going any where with out me!’ another hobbit jumped out of the bushes.
‘It seems he isn’t. Even if he was invited to a secret counsel.’ Lord Elrond smiled.
‘OI! We’re coming too!’ A voice from behind Lord Elrond said. Soon, Two more hobbits joined the group.
‘Anyways, you need people of intelligence on this mission….quest….thing.’ One said.
‘That rules you out Pip.’ another hobbit said next to him.
‘A halfling and an elf carries the fate of all of us. Gondor will see it through.’ Boromir said walking over.
‘So it shall be 13 members of the Counsel. You shall be the Fellowship of the Rings!’ Lord Elrond spoke.
‘Great! Where are we going?’ the same hobbit asked. The other hobbits around him hit him on the head.
