Chapter 8: Words of Wisdom

The four hobbits in one tree, Aragorn, Eldiriel and Boromir in the next than, Gimli and Legolas in the last tree.

'Master Elf, I see that your friends here aren't very happy to see us.' Gimli said.

'They are protective in Lothlorien.' Legolas said.

'Is it like that in Mirkwood?' Gimli asked.

'Mirkwood, is different from other elven realms.' Legolas said. 'Mirkwood was taken over by Sauron's evil forces long ago. So it is not a safe-haven for elves like Rivendale or Lothlorien. Mirkwood is still beautiful but dangerous.' Legolas said. 'You were taught to fight at a young age, the weapon that you excelled in first was your main weapon. Most were either bows or daggers.'

'Must be hard for you too travel with your kingdom under such danger.' Gimli said.

'I was the middle child. I wasn't the heir, till my brother died.' Legolas said stiffly.

'I see it still pains you. I won't bother you any more.' Gimli said.

'You weren't bothering me, Gimli.' Legolas said. 'I suggest that we take our rest now.' Legolas said.

Gimli nodded and laid down, which he fell asleep as soon as his head hit the blanket.

From the next tree, Legolas could hear talking, but didn't listen to hard to hear what was being said.

'Eldiriel, I see you and Legolas have come to an understanding?' Boromir asked.

'With some help from Pipin.' Eldiriel said.

'Pipin?' Aragorn asked.'

Yes, he is more wise than he seems.' Eldiriel said.

'You mean our Pipin? The one that throws rocks at my head?' Boromir asked.

'Yes, our Pipin. He is going to do something great. It will save the races of Middle Earth. I have the same feeling with Merry.' Eldiriel said.'

Since when do you have 'feelings'?' Boromir questioned.

'Not funny.' Eldiriel said. 'Get some rest, you won't be able to keep up with us elves if you don't.' Eldiriel said.

'That's not funny.' Boromir said.

'Your right. It's hilarious.' Eldiriel laughed.

During the hour before dawn, the Fellowship was awakened by the sound of elvish talking. Legolas and Eldiriel translated for Gimli and Boromir. Haldir talked in common tongue to the hobbits.

'What did he say?' Pipin asked sleepily.

'They saw something in the woods.' Frodo said.

'What do you mean, something?' Merry asked.

'It looked like Gollum.' Frodo said.

'Gollum?' Sam asked surprised

.'Haldir said that we should not worry about it and that they would take care of it.' Frodo said.

'Poor Legolas. He must feel awful, I mean, it was his people that let Gollum go.' Merry said.

'It wasn't Legolas fault!' Pipin said. 'It wasn't any one's fault, except Sauron.'

'Pipin, Merry, let us get some sleep.' Sam said cutting in between the two.

'Sorry Merry.' Pipin said.

'No problem, Pip.' Merry said laying down again.

That morning, the Fellowship was awaken and given breakfast by the Lorien elves.

'Now, we are going to blind fold all of you, and take you to the Lord and Lady.' Haldir said. The Lorien elves soon had the Fellowship moving towards the city of Lothlorien. Eldiriel became happier and happier with each step towards Lothlorien.

'You seem happy, Eldiriel.' Legolas said.

'You always had better senses than I.' Eldiriel laughed. 'I'm happy that I'll get to see my family before, things get to bad.' Eldiriel said. Pain shot through Legolas. The thought had come to Legolas before that he would never see Lorlome ever again, never be able to hold her. Never be able to see his brother or sister. To run through the woods of Mirkwood. Sorrow crept into the heart of Legolas. He almost knelt down and cried. Haldir sensing distressed in Legolas walked next to him.

'*Dim*?' Haldir asked.*sad*

'Lorlome.' Legolas said.

' You will see her again, my young friend.' Haldir said.

'Thank you.' Legolas said.

'We near Lothlorien.' Haldir announced.

The Fellowship was lead into the main square of the city where their blind folds were taken off. Eldiriel smiled happily. Legolas looked around in awe.

'Legolas! You've finally seen my homeland after me seeing yours!' Eldiriel said. 'What do you think?'

'It's beautiful, more beautiful than Rivendale and Mirkwood, but it can't compare to some beauty.' Legolas said looking down.

'You really love her.' Eldiriel said. 'Listen, I know I said the wrong thing earlier. It isn't fair that I should see my family and you can't. It could also be a sign. I get to tell my family I love them one last time before.....'Eldiriel started.

'Don't say such things.' Legolas said. 'It's not true.'

'It might, as I was saying before. I have promised Lorlome that I will make sure that you will come back.'

'When?' Legolas asked

.'Does it matter?' Eldiriel asked.

'You say that, so you won't have to tell me.' Legolas laughed.

'The Lord and Lady will see you all know. Follow me.' an elf with long blonde hair, pale blue eyes and very royal looking robes said to them. The fellowship was lead by Aragorn and Eldiriel. Than followed by the four hobbits, Boromir, Gimli and last Legolas. The fellowship followed the elf through the main square to a large tree with a stair case winding up it. Up the stairs they went and found themselves in an open court yard in the tree.

'Wow!' Pipin and Merry said.

'Pipin, Merry, don't drool!' Sam warned. 'We are near royalty!'

'You are always near royalty, young ones.' Boromir said. 'Aragorn, and myself.'

'Don't for get my cousin. Prince Legolas, son of Thranduil, heir of Mirkwood.' Eldiriel said turning towards Boromir.

'Eldiriel.' Legolas warned.

'What? you deserve just as much praise as they do!' Eldiriel said angrily. 'I don't care if you don't like it or not.'

'Eldiriel, he will learn in time.' A beautiful commanding voice floated through the air. The Fellowship looked and saw a beautiful elf before them. Eldiriel, Aragorn and Legolas knelt down as soon as their eyes laid upon her. The hobbits, Boromir and Gimli followed suit.

~~'Welcome Prince Legolas of Mirkwood, son of Thranduil. You have grown in many ways. But You are still young. Don't hold your feelings in, you will only go to ruin.' Lady Galadriel voice spoke in Legolas'head.~~

'You all may rise. I am Lady Galadriel.' Lady Galadriel said looking around at each member of the fellowship.

~~'Eldiriel, you need to learn when to show your emotions and when not too. You can learn a lot from Prince Legolas, but he still has a lot to learn from you.' Lady Galadriel spoke to Eldiriel secretly.~~

'Next to me is my husband, Lord Celeborn.' Lady Galadriel spoke.

'There are 9. Elrond told us that there were 10 that set off from Rivendale.' Lord Celeborn asked determinedly.

~~'Young Peregrin Tooke, you have no need to be scared or frightened of me or what lies ahead. There will always be someone to look out for you, but there will be a time when you need to take charge and take care of someone else. No matter how big or small.'Lady Galadriel spoke lightly in Pipin's head.~~

'There has been a serious loss.' Lady Galadriel said sadly.

'Gandalf the Grey has fallen in the caves of Moria.' Aragorn said.

~~'Meriadoc Brandybuck, you shall be the most victorious out of your friends. Bravery runs strong in you and your friends. But combined forces shall triumph over evil. No man may kill a nazgul. Remember those words.' Lady Galadriel spoke to Merry in his head.~~

'Just as my mirror has told me.' Lady Galadriel looked up. 'You all may stay and rest. There are more perils ahead for all.' Lady Galadriel said nodding to the Fellowship. Both Lord and Lady left the Fellowship standing watching the beautiful rulers walk away.

'If you will follow me down to your quarters.' the elf that showed them up said. Following the elf, they came to a quiet part of Lothlorien and settled in for the night.
