Chapter one: The Fellowship

On a bright and sunny day a bond between four races started and a bond between family grew unnoticed.

Legolas Greenleaf, Prince of Mirkwood sat next to other elves from Mirkwood looking around. Legolas saw man from Gondor, Dwarfs from the Lonely Mountain, Gandalf the Gray, Lord Elrond and his two sons, sitting next to them was their adopted brother, Estel. More widely known as Strider the Ranger. There were also halflings or hobbits as Gandalf calls them. There was a group of elves that Legolas didn't expect to be here, Lothlorien Elves. Legolas knew they were from Lothlorien from the attire of white and silver.

"Legolas, look! It's our 'loving' cousin." Legolas's younger brother, Raenlas whispered in his ear.

"So it is him." Legolas murmured.

Eldiriel and Legolas never got along. Many times when people saw them, they thought they were brothers. They both had blonde hair that shone gold in the sunlight, and deep blue eyes. The only difference between the two was Ediriel's eyes were perimently stone cold. They were constantly competing. Whether it was for attention of a young she-elf or attention from Eldiriel's mother. Legolas envied Eldiriel for having a mother. Legolas and his brother were to young to remember their mother or how she died. Their father would always become cold and closed when anyone mentioned their mother.

"Greetings to everyone present. There are some who have traveled long and far to be present here, so let's begin. "There is a pressing matter at hand. Sauron is rising. His powers grow stronger with each passing day and our list of allies grows fewer and fewer by the day. The only thing to stop him right now is the One Ring that was taken from him by Islidur. He can't find it. Frodo." Lord Elrond gestured to the younger hobbit.

The hobbit, Frodo stood up and set a gold ring on the stone stand in the middle of the council. Everyone knew what it was. The One Ring Sauron longed for. Gasps came from every group. Legolas shut his eyes and sighed.
'If only I and Mirkwood warriors held Gollum in their dungeons, this wouldn't be such an urgent matter now. We could have held off this awful event. An innocent creature such as a hobbit wouldn't have been hurt or have to bare this burden in the first place.' Legolas thought to himself. While Legolas thought to himself, Strider was talking how he met with Gandalf and caught the creature Gollum. Then passing him to Mirkwood Elves 'care'.

"It must have been a homecoming for the creature. Going to a realm of evil and destruction." Eldiriel stated lazily.

"Eldiriel!" Lord Elrond cut in. Eldiriel stood up. "I apologize, Elves of Mirkwood." Eldiriel said flakily, glaring at Legolas before he sat down.

Lord Elrond than stood up and faced Legolas.

"Legolas Greenleaf, you have told me that your father has sent grave news. Please tell us now." Lord Elrond said sitting back down.

"As we have been discussing," Legolas started as he stood up, "The creature named Gollum has escaped. He would always go out for a walk, carefully guarded by Mirkwood warriors, myself and my older brother, the heir to Mirkwood. He climbed a tree, and when the warriors wanted to go back Gollum wouldn't come down. One of the guards went up the tree to get him. He climbed all the way up to the top and continued to go from tree to tree like that. Than we were attacked by orcs. Many fell to guard the prisoner and our land. One was my brother. When the attack was over with, we couldn't find Gollum anywhere. The warriors of Mirkwood, myself and my Father believe that the attack was a distraction so Gollum could escape." Legolas finished.

"That'll teach you to trust an elf." Gimli son of Gloin said in a huff.

"The Ring needs to be destroyed." Lord Elrond said after a rumble of agreement from the dwarfs.

"Why don't we take the Ring to Gondor and use it against the enemy!" Boromir suggested standing up and started pacing.

"No, we can't use the Ring. It'll bring more evil than good." Strider replied smoothly.

"What would a 'ranger'know of about this?" Boromir sneered.

"He is no mere ranger! He is Aragorn son of Arathorn, heir to Gondor." Legolas said angrily looking at Boromir.

"Thank you Legolas. Please sit down." Aragorn said nodding at Legolas.

"Lord Elrond said that the Ring needs to be destroyed! Not to be used!" Eldiriel replied.

"And you think 'an elf' would be the one to take it! I would rather die than see the Ring in the hands of an Elf!" Gimli spat.

All the elves, save Lord Elrond and his sons, got up and started towards the dwarfs. The dwarfs did the same. Legolas held the Mirkwood elves back, while Eldiriel let his elves run towards the dwarfs to challenge them. The men from Gondor were mad that a dwarf or elf would take it so they stood up and joined the argument.

"I'll take the Ring." Frodo murmured softly.

Gandalf was the only one really to hear the hobbit. Frodo again said that he'd take the Ring and everyone silenced.

"I don't know the way...I'll need some help." Frodo said looking mostly at Gandalf and Aragorn.

"I'll stand by you Frodo Baggin. As long as the burden is yours only to bare." Gandalf replied smiling down at the hobbit.

"You have my sword, Frodo. I promise to protect and follow you all the way into Mordor." Aragorn knelt down next to the hobbit than stood up. He placed himself next to Gandalf.

"You have my bow, Master hobbit." Legolas said as he walked forward and stood on the other side of Gandalf.

"You have my ax!" Gimli said proudly. "I don't want to be out down by an elf!" Gimli whispered to the hobbit. Frodo laughed.

"You have my bow also, Master Baggins." Eldiriel said. He took his place next to Legolas. "I wouldn't want you, Prince, to ruin your pretty face, than your father would have to find another heir." Eldiriel whispered.

Legolas turned and glared at the elf, who unfortunately was his cousin.

"Gondor can't be left out or left behind. Young hobbit you have my sword." Boromir said slightly smiling at Frodo.

"Than it shall be--" Lord Elrond began but was cut off by another hobbit running out of a hiding spot.

"Mister Frodo isn't going anywhere with out Sam Gamgee!" the hobbit said huffing and puffing.

There was a rustle of leafs and out popped two more hobbits who stood next to Frodo and Sam.
"You can't leave with out us Frodo! You can't get rid of Merry Brandybuck and Pipin Tooke that easily!" Merry replied.

Lord Elrond looked at Gandalf. Gandalf nodded and Lord Elrond began again.

"Than it shall be. You ten shall be the Fellowship of the Ring."
