Article Twelve

I commit myself to speaking out against those who would ensnare and enslave others in life-negating philosophies.
I commit myself to speak out when I witness injustice and wrong doing and I commit myself to silence, if all I can add to a topic is negativity.

The Newpy cannot just sit by when hearing others preach religious or racist intolerance. The Newpy must make it clear that such anti-life stances go beyond the accepted definition of freedom of speech. Like cultural relativism, freedom of speech should not be taken as a blanket license to stir up hatreds.

Newpies must speak out when faced with intolerance. It is not enough to merely create inner balance in each individual and use this as a defense mechanism against injustices. The Newpy should not only set an example, but should also have the courage to speak out against negativity in whatever form it rears its ugly head. This article also demands of the Newpy a commitment to interfering when witnessing injustice wherever it may appear. The Newpy does not say:  “This is no concern of mine” – but rather, in a spirit of reconciliation, they should make it clear to the offenders that their behavior is intolerable in a fair society. The scope of this article can cover every negative act from littering, through aggression, to smoking in public places. The Newpy is not a passive sufferer of injustice, but a passionate ideologue of life affirmation.
