I commit myself to achieving my potential as a human being. I commit myself to exploring my individuality, creativity and uniqueness.
Committing yourself to achieving your potential does not imply here ruthless ambition. It means simply that you commit yourself to exploring what is unique about you. Exploring your creativity does not mean seeking to live from your creativeness – though that would be wonderful if you can do it – it means seeing what you can produce that did not exist before. Remember the first audience for any creative work is you; if it pleases you, then that is an end in itself. An “audience” for your production is not important, but in seeking an audience, unknown creators have never had a better tool than the internet. Put your work on the net – or photos of it – be proud of your unique creation be it fantastically original or derivative of other work, it is yours and it did not exist before you made it!
As for the uniqueness of each individual: it is easy to forget in the rush towards monoculture that the world appears to be experiencing today, that you really are unique! Others may have had similar experiences to you at times, but no-one has ever lived in identical circumstances or interpreted their experience in an identical way to you. Rejoice in that uniqueness and seek not to melt into the morass of “the masses” – because that is only a mistaken concept anyway. The masses do not exist; only individuals exist.
