Dear
Principal:
I
have a heartfelt desire to teach at the elementary level.
I
have just graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of New Mexico (UNM)
with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. As
a result of my outstanding academic achievements at UNM, I was inducted
into the Ronald E. McNair Scholars Program, which I successfully completed.Furthermore,
I graduated from Albuquerque Technical Vocational Institute Community College
(TVI) with an Associate of Arts Degree in Elementary Education in April
of 2004.Throughout my college career,
I have set high standards of achievement for myself that have resulted
in the following honors:listed on
the Dean’s List for three terms at UNM, listed on the Vice President’s
Honor Roll for five terms at TVI, elected to Who’s Who Among Students in
America Junior Colleges for the 2001 – 2002 school year while attending
TVI.Thus, I am confident that I
will be able to establish high standards of achievement for the students
in my classroom.
I
have had extensive experience supervising others both as the Vice President
of Operations at National Security Service Inc., and as the Third Shift
Supervisor at Casa Maria Alzheimer’s Center. In
addition, my leadership skills have been further developed while attending
TVI by participating in the following activities:TVI’s
Student Leadership Development Program (fall 2001 and spring 2002), TVI’s
Citizen Leadership/Civic Engagement Program (fall 2002 and spring 2003),
and TVI’s student government (summer 1985 and fall 2001 to spring 2003).During
my student teaching assignment at Carlos Rey Elementary School in the fall
term of 2004, these leadership experiences enabled me to lead a second
grade class in the development of a class goals statement and a class mission
statement.
Finally,
as a benefit of my successful completion of UNM’s Bilingual/ESL Summer
Institute 2003, and my experience as a volunteer mentor at the Bernalillo
County Computer Clubhouse, I learned how to use Netscape Composer and HTML
codes to create and publish Web Pages on the World Wide Web.I
taught these skills to the students in a second grade class during my student
teaching assignment at Carlos Rey Elementary School in the spring term
of 2004.All of the students were
able to successfully complete and publish a Web Page of their own. These
Web Pages can be viewed at the following URL:https://www.angelfire.com/nm2/2ndgradecarlosrey.
Since the above examples are only a brief highlight of my abilities I look forward to discussing the details my education and experience with you.I will call your office next week to schedule an interview. If you need to reach me my number is (505) 332-2530.Thank you for taking the time to review of my application.
Sincerely,
