Joule A measure of energy equal to the work done when a current of one
ampere is passed through a resistance of one ohm for one second.
JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group) A "lossy" graphical
compression scheme that allows the user to control the amount of data that is
averaged and sacrificed as file size is reduced. It is a common Internet file
format. See Lossy compression.
Jumpers Small, plastic-coated conductive shorting blocks that are installed on
pins on circuit boards to close or complete a circuit to configure the board.
They are often labeled Jp 1, Jp 2, and so on.
