The battle system of FFX-2 centers around the "Dress Up" system. Dress Up is a system where characters change costumes, and with each different costume, they have seperate sets of abilities and stats. To use these costumes, you must get Dresspheres. Dresspheres can be equipped on Result Plates. The most noticeable new thing about the battle system is that you only play as three characters: Yuna, Rikku, and Paine.
