MODELING LAMP TIPS

CAUTION DURING INSTALLATION AND REPLACEMENT

When replacing quartz halogen modeling lamps, never touch the glass envelope with your fingers. This oil on your skin will stay on the glass and cause intense heat to build up at the point of touch. This intense heat can cause a blister to form on the glass envelope and shorten the normal life expectancy dramatically. Even worse it could weaken the glass to a point where it may explode during use. Even if a blister doesn't form the area will become darker and the illumination will be drastically reduced. Always use a tissue or a soft cloth when removing or installing a quartz halogen modeling lamp. If you accidentally touched the modeling lamp with your fingers, put some alcohol on to a soft cloth or a tissue and wipe the effected area and clean. Do not use it again until thoroughly dry.

OBSERVE CORRECT WATTAGE DURING REPLACEMENT

When replacing modeling lamps, only replace it with the wattage rating that the manufacturer recommended. If you use a higher wattage excessive, heat will build up and cause severe damage.

DANGER OF EXPLOSION

Quartz halogen modeling lamps can explode. The danger is when they are first turned on. So, it's a very good practice to make sure that all of your modeling lamp switches are turned on prior to your subjects entrance to the setting. If you decide to add a flash head during a setting, turn the head away from the subject, then turn on the modeling lamp.

BE GENTLE OR YOU MAY BREAK THE FILAMENT

During use, the filament is very fragile and at its highest risk of being damaged. Try not to accidentally bang into a light stand. When moving lights to other locations on a set, be extremely gentle. When completing a location assignment, turn off the modeling lamp switch and let the filament cool prior to packing. Once the filament is at normal temperature, it can take the rigors of packing and transportation.

IF YOU FOLLOW THESE STEPS, YOU WILL GET MANY HOURS OF ILLUMINATION FORM YOUR MODELING LAMPS.
