MACY GRAY
"Sexual Revolution"
Record label: Epic
Format: 12"
Release date: 29 November 2001

Isn’t it amazing how a remix can make you feel differently about a song? “Sexual Revolution” is probably the weakest cut from Macy’s latest album, but it’s the one that you knew was prime for some great house remixes. And in step Blaze and Naked Music’s Miguel Migs to fulfill the request. Migs goes straight for the funky deep house approach, playing around with the strings and horns from the original and adding a rubbery bass lick. Blaze’s DJ Shelter Vocal Mix gets smoother with chicken scratch guitars laying low in the cut and sweet chord changes. Macy’s distinct voice is left to stand out even more than it already does, particularly while speaking on being “the freak that God made [her].” (Don’t cha hate it when people pass the buck?)
