VisuAide is proud to officially launch Trekker for PAC Mate, an adaptation of VisuAide's latest product: Trekker. Trekker is a GPS-based orientation solution designed for the visually impaired. PAC Mate, from Freedom Scientific, is a Pocket PC device used for notetaking and other data intensive applications

Trekker for PAC Mate is a WinCE application, adapted for the blind and visually impaired with talking menus, talking maps and GPS information. It offers features enabling a blind person to determine its position including the street address and the surrounding intersections. It also offers search functions for an exhaustive database of points of interest, such as restaurants, hotels, office buildings, etc. Trekker for PAC Mate features unique capabilities for recording voice notes for the creation of user-defined points, browsing routes off-line, and exchanging routes and points of interest with other users.

Trekker for PAC Mate will provide more independence to the visually impaired, increasing travel-ability confidence both locally and when away on business or leisure. It will also increase accessibility and enjoyment of the most useful and interesting opportunities in a given locality.

VisuAide is also proud to be associated with Navigation Technologies, the leading provider of digital maps for vehicle navigation, Internet/wireless applications and business solutions. The digital maps are the core of the GPS application and contain every individual street in large urban centers, plus hundreds of thousands of points of interest. Trekker is the first GPS-based product to offer digital maps to the visually impaired in a fully portable application. Navigation Technologies data includes street names and addresses and 45 categories of destinations or points of interest such as restaurants, hotels, public buildings and ATMs.
