Here is the engine. This is the first time I ever saw a Mitsubishi
engine in
a marine hull, actually this is the first time I have ever seen a two
stroke
Mitsubishi engine at all! I was told that this is a 22cc engine that
has been fully
modified for marine use.
This engine was said to run at around 40mph. On my first day out with
the boat
it almost sank as a result of the the water jacket leaking. Even though
this hull has
an auto bailer installed it still could not keep up with the water
coming in!
Here is a shot of the carb. The purple pool noodles are for flotation.
The water jacket was custom made and not like most water jackets which
are screwed in place, this one fits tight and was JB welded in place.
At first I
thought one of the water lines had a leak in it but after careful inspection
I noticed that in
fact the water jacket was leaking where it had been JB welded on. Over
time
I guess the JB weld must have cracked.
Here is a shot after I ran the boat for about a half hour with water
running
through it to make sure the water jacket was fixed and not leaking.
I used a very strong epoxy
on the water jacket to hold it in place and used more than what was
originally
on it to make sure it holds!
