Herstory, A Quest for Knowledge - Finale
...by Yashimabet
"What life has taught me, I share with those who are willing to learn..." - H.I.M.
On this quest I have dropped words like discipline, humility, and inherent
strength. As Africans in our own space we have had to employ these tenets
or allude to them in time of confrontation. Victory, however, is imminent
if one chooses the path of knowledge and adheres to it through Jah. Our
land and peace of mind is priceless and more importantly, OURS. It’s time
to CLAIM AFRICA, CLAIM SELF; Mother Africa and her children (your ancestors) will embrace us as we continue our quest.
As said initially, look to His Majesty if you are in need of a blue print on
how to proceed. “The heart is willing but the flesh is weak”, however, only
discipline and outright abandonment of self will lead to the fruition of our
quest. And I know attaining self-discipline is no easy task, but when faced
with life’s demands one must buckle up, breathe and begin. Shed the
obstacles placed in our way like egos, self-gratification, false pride, and
ignorance. Everyday experiences are not to be discounted as just day to
day happenings, rather they are to be ingested as observations and lessons,
spoon fed to us by ancestors paving our path with history.
Be aware of the signs and the meditations, they are with you daily to guide
your actions and answer the faltering questions. Be aware of the wolf in
the sheep’s clothing-as we sometimes are led astray. So as an African
sister, in Babylon, an offensive position proved to work best for me. I
observe, listen then pounce. I try not to be subjected or subjugated and
will always choose humility. I gather knowledge daily, meditate and commune
with Jah constantly while I meander along this avenue of not ours.
So I say be the watcher or the warrior, never the fool.
We often try to be content-denying ourselves Jah and not eating of his bread
but the oppressed is never content. Discipline of mind, of thought, of
self-in the direction of levity is the only way. Seek that which is ours,
“Africa for the Africans” Marcus Garvey say. Her strength and spirit only
comes through our knowledge of her. Humble self and learn. Discipline self
and teach others about herstory, your story, with Jah as your guide. As a
man who lives for self, lives in vain. FORWARD!
