Interior: $325 or $500 each Sparco or Recaro Red or Blue racing reclinable seats, I'm still deciding.... $free like sunshine in winter Shorter shifter... $100 or $200 upgraded speakers if they're fudged up.... $100 mp3 player for my dash... $Priceless matching white Robotech figurine on dashboard to bless the car.... $30 model 1/24 scale MK3 supra near back window or dash... $225 Momo steering wheel... $500-800 5.8 inch DVD/VCD player/t.v tuner.... $100 karaoke system complete with four microphones (it could happen)... $65 push button starter... $29 Neon Shift knob....
Suspension: $250 Neuspeed or Eibach or Suspension Techniques lowering spring which would drop it 1.25 inches all around.... $0 And I'd keep my stock rims because I'm scared of parking it anywhere on my block, plus you know bigger tires make for a harsher ride.... $120 Steel braided brake lines because going fast is half of the battle.... $45 TRD brake pads.... $350 Front and rear sway bars...
Body/Exterior Mods: $220 or $210 a Bomex lower lip kit, hopefully it's a 89 and upSupra so I can get the tight lip that they have for it or the fake Blitz lower lip... $100 to $300 Then I'd get a original spoiler if it didn't come with it because I don't want to fly once I hit 110 mph... $200 But not too big because it'd slow me down from 0-110 mph... $125 Maybe in the future if I'm feeling really daring go get some half clear, half amber turn signal bumper lights that cost $125 a pair. Yes I know it's expensize like an ice cream cone in Disneyland during the summer time.... $5 jigglypuff sticker on the gas cap because he's just so cool... $189 headlight covers... $189 front air duct which replaces the stock license plate part. Which lets more air into the engine and lets it cooldown more... $60 strobe lights in the stock foglights...
Other cars I was thinking of
I need a car that is cheap ($5000 and below), fast (15 sec quarter mile kitted out), yet not pretentious (like an Type R Integra that has a Type R sticker covering the whole car), something that isn't often seen on the streets (like a virgin prostitute), something I can park safely on the streets without attracting the wrong kind of attention around my block(like having "La cucaracha" playing everytime I put my car in reverse), yet can still get some attention for just looking good (Yes you can don't have to be overly loud in order to be noticed. Just stay looking good and there you go). Here goes a partial list of cars that fit that criteria.
Did I state that I want an import car to "Keep it real" like dude from zandd.com always tells his readers to do? But I did back in the day wanted to get one of those old school Mustangs, like the 1965 1/2 model, but then I found out that in a rear end collision my whole trunk would explode in a fireball. I also wanted one of those old Chevy Iroc Camaro's because that's was what I saw on tv and on the streets a lot, so I thought it's supposed to be one bad ass car. But that series of Camaro's is known as the fat and slow
period. So it's cool, don't really want that.
Problems with the car
Every car has a problem. Something that stops it from being the supreme car. Like for instance, Ferrari's don't come with cupholders. Here are some problems in no particular order that might comes with the third generation Supra : $1500 - 3500 blown head gasket... Overheating, can be fixed by anything that lets more cool air into the engine... $1500 Bad transmission. That's why you don't buy cars from former racers... Weight. The beach is 3500 pounds before people step into it. Even with the standard 200 horses or 230-232 (turbo) horses, compare that to a Civic that weighs 2500 pounds, that's a disadvantage... Slipping tires. For some reason, it was made to cruise, not for the drag strip, so the rear tires slip a lot when you try to launch it which means no hooking up, which means slower times.... Here goes a paraphrased quote that I got from speedmagazine.com, " Funny how you complain about the MK3 being slow, heavy, big and a gas guzzler. Isn't that the main complaint of American made cars?". Which is true to a point, but some of those domestics eat more gas and subsequently have more displacement that lets them go faster for less money. And their styling is also uglier.
Reality always stops the fun of things
But I know that although the Supra is fast, it still is slow. The best I can hope for without going all moeny crazy is low 14 sec or mid 13 sec quarter mile. Although fast is not faster than the crazy supercharged Mustang 5.0's that run like 12's and under (I've read about 9 sec street driven Mustangs too). And first generation Eclipse's/Talon's/Laser's can run 11's without being all stripped out and too race car like. I can whoop anything stock with the above mentioned setup, but sometimes the situation doesn't warrant a race. Why a daily driven civic can only go about high 11's or low 12's before it's suspension needs to be tweaked to see those 8 and 9 second timeslips. And seeing my current situation, I might be stuck with my jeep for another half year or, gasp, four years. Instead maybe I can just drive the 96 civic that my bro will hopefully eventually stop driving. Even if he does, there's no guarantee that my family will agree to me getting it. My brother already had one and what if I finally drive one and it's expectations aren't what I thought it would be. Would I still be happy in it?
Maybe I should just get A big body Benz like the ones I'm accustomed to seeing on the Rap videos I saw growing up.... When my brother owned it, although it looked good, it had it's share of problems like bad brakes, slow feeling, leaking oil and a sense of just not being good enough of a car for him. Hopefully I will find a Supra in a better condition than that. Plus he bought it for $1800 back in the day, so maybe that had something to do with the defects.
But what if I do get it?
Then I would be so fresh and so clean. Even overboost.com says that they like the body style of the MK3 compared to the newer Supra (1993-1998) body style. It's true, it's true. I'd get two of them, one targa topped white and another one painted super red. The targa top will be driven exclusively during the spring and summer and the super red one will be for the fall and winter seasons because I don't feel like putting the targa back on. But seriously, if I do get one regardless of color, but dependant on engine condition, the order of stuff I'd get for real is: 1,intake, 2,exhaust, 3,lowering springs, 4,lower chin spoiler, and 5,pulley. One reason is that good lord that's a lot of money to be putting into a car especially for a college student. I don't run no drug business from the mail, I can't afford all the cool mods like a custom interior ($1500). With those basic mods I should be in 15 second territory with a non turbo automatic Supra. (Watch out Jetta, I'm going to hunt you down if you try to cut me off again.)
Will I speed race?
This question I think of often and I think that if you get into the hobby of fixing up your car whether for show or race, it's still going to be expensive. I think the only person I have to prove anything to is myself not the dude in the car next to me. If I know in my heart that I can beat him, then there's no real need to race him. But if he starts talking to me like he wants to be my friend and wants to see how fast our cars are compared to each other, I will if the conditions are optimal like no pedestrians and no rain and a long stretch of road. (When did the term "speed racing" take over the familiar term "drag racing" anyways?) I will definately go out to the races. I want to be so fast that the people will look at me and whisper to each other, "There goes that super fly dope ass mk3 Supra. Beware, you don't want none from him." Sort of like the way some people cower in fear when they hear "300zx twin turbo running on slicks and shooting nos". The same way people in Initial D be all silently excited when the words, "Tureno 8-6" and "3-2" are uttered. I want to be that feared and respected. So fast that only the naive or daring will be willing to challenge me.
Dude where's my car?
Hopefully sometime between June and December 2001, my brother (the same one that used to own one back in the day) will help me find that MK3 Supra. Then I can say, "Hey girl that only likes me now because I drive a stunning Supra but not back in the day when I was in my blazing blue truck or jacked Jeep.... go fudge yourself with a chrome dildo." Because I know with a nice car, I'll be able to attract the gold digger demographic of girls that every guy is forever trying to impress. And I won't need to buy her a cellphone or pay for her brother's gold tooth, I can just roll up in the gleaming Supra and say, "Sorry, did my blowoff valve blow the top off of your convertible?" It's not that I would like to actually date them. It's just nice knowing that you're wanted/in demand. Plus I'm wondering how much people around me would change once I do get it. And if I'll change because I don't wanna be a beach like some people that get all funny in the head once they know that girls like them. Because when you're little, no one gives cares, no one gives a darn, but once you come up everyone is now your friend. And I still have my hit list of all the cars that cut in front of me and basically pissed me off because they knew I was driving an underpowered car. Like Mystikal said, "With my fist down your throat is how I be coming."....
I know you've got to suffer before you can appreciate joy. I think I've paid my dues, so I'm just still waiting. I'll be forever grateful if he does though and you can be sure I'll be keeping everyone posted on the reality instead of all this wishful thinking I'm putting on this page. So far the closest I've come close to owning one is the Supra model kit that I bought for $30.... Does wanting to own one stem from some kind of insecurity? Doesn't everything we do stem from some sort of wanting to prove to yourself that you're better than what is perceived to others?
