This is an example of a 'BEAM' robot. It is very simple in design and as solar energy is converted into electrical energy by the solae cell the capacitors charge up and give a burst of electrical current to the transistors. These in turn drive the motor and the robot moves forwards. The cycle then repeats itself. The robot itserlf is entirely independant and this is one of the major ideas behind BEAM robotics.
