Invocation
Greek storytellers would begin their tales with an invocation to the muses, asking for their aid in a successful performance. The invocation I created to accompany the installation combines a traditional Greek invocation performed vocally as well as on the flute and the harp, with the sounds of cicadas. Greek myth claims that cicadas were once sisters who challenged the Muses to a singing contest and were transformed when they lost.
