The other place that sounds nice but I have not been there.
Tasmania: (Area = 67,800 kmē) (Population = 478,000)
The Island State of Tasmania is the only Australian state that isn't located on the mainland.
The east coast is less mountainous but the climate is warmer and the best beaches in Tasmania can be found here. One particularly beautiful area on the east coast is the Freycenet National Park. Further to the south is Hobart, Tasmania's beautiful capital city.
Tasmania has a notorious past as the state was a penal colony for the worst criminals and there is plenty of evidence of this past around the Port Arthur area which is worth a visit.
Tasmania is one of the worlds last temperate wildernesses. A large proportion of the state is protected with National Park status.
Tasmania
is a mountainous island and generally speaking it is the west coast that is
the most scenic part where the rugged coast meets the lush temperate rainforest
which is backed by steep mountains. The most scenic area in Tasmania is an area
called the Cradle Mountain - Lake Sinclair National Park. This park has many
bush walks and some of these walks rival the walks in the South West of New
Zealand.
Tasmania has some unique wildlife, the most famous is the Tasmanian Devil which is a small and ferocious cat like animal. Tasmania also has its fair share of other Australian animals such as Kangaroos and Possums.
Looks and sounds like a very nice place. I may go there some time in the future to see what all the talk is about. Sounds cold though.
