This page is provided to illustrate just exactly what goes into a combat robot. It is not intended as a step by step guide to build a bot, but may give helpful hints to experienced builders. Please do not try anything seen on these pages unless there is proper supervision. Working with power tools is dangerous and can result in severe injury. Have fun, but please use your brain.

Myself and another student have recently decided to start a combat robotics club here at our high school: Nashua High Combat Robotics Club. We are organizing it with intentions to be able to use the school as a meeting place for our events, as well as future 12lb Pound of Pain events. We have at least two experienced teachers backing us up, and we're going in for a meeting with the principal Monday. We have written a charter, to clear up all legal aspects for the group. More info soon... |

Here is a shot right before Anti-Narf battled Micro Atom on the fairy practice arena. Afterwards, we overvolted MA's spinning blade just for giggles, and we ended up damaging Anti-Narf's receiver. That's pretty bad considering Anti-Narf was just sitting there. Hopefully it can be salvaged... |

Finished the new leg pods at John Albert's Welding Services last night. He also donated a bunch of raw materials: bar stock, alum. shaft, and an 18" 1.5x.25 bar of steel which may be used for the weapon bar.

I decided upon a new design for the legs of my shuffler. Instead of the 16 legs, I'm going with 6. It's a similar design to Anti Narf. This will allow me to put more weight into the weapon itslef. The 16 leg design worked, but I predicted a lot of problems would occur if I continued on with it. |

Here I am working on a couple spacers for the modular leg pods. |

I reassembled the new shuffler mechanism today, this thing is working suprisingly well the first time around. I'm waiting for Tyler to get me some stock so I can finish the motor reduction and get this baby running.
On a completely non-related topic: Ryan finally got his Orange Jetta, an early Birthday Present. He really wanted me to make that known to everyone.. go figure? |

Started working on parts for my 18 pound shuffler today. I made the three plates, 8 standoffs, 8 legs, and 1 cam for a single side on the bot. |

It's going to be 16 legged and have a spinng bar on top, powered by either an EV Warrior or equivalent pancake motor |

I've almost finished Anti-Narf, just a few minor adjustments left. |

I have been inspired by Eric to build a shuffling fairy. The way he did it was simple, yet facinating. I will attempt to recreate it. The weight class is 150g, but I get 225g, due to the "shuffler" weight advantage. Here's what Eric's looks like: |

Pound of Pain 3 took place this afternoon. What an event!! There were some really impresive bots, lots of carnage, and Gileski getting drunk! What more could one want? Check out our event report for Pound of Pain 3. |

A huge thanks to Robert Masek, founder of Pound of Pain for all of his support. He has supplied us with parts, machine hours, and knowledge. |
