Midi Playing: Sweet Dreams
Name: Tonnage (never reveals his actual name; a.k.a. the Beast) Age: 34 Gender: Male Occupation: Professional wrestler, celebrity Description: Tonnage is very muscular, with a tiny bit of flab around the waistline; a big, hulking brute, who is otherwise rock solid from neck to calf. He is caucasian, with no distinctive markings or tatoos. The big man has 30" arms, a 65" chest, and steel grey eyes. He is seven feet tall, and weighs approximately 525 pounds. He typically wears T-shirts and jeans when on the street, but in public, he always wears his mask. This covers the top half of his head, down to the bottoms of the ears, and is sky blue with yellow lightning-like streaks running along its length. Personality: Tonnage is self-confident. At least, he thinks so. Most people would call it cockiness, or even arrogance. The big man just laughs at them, however, because he backs it up like nobody's business. He doesn't always lack respect for his in-ring opponents, but he hardly ever considers them his equal. He's not afraid to mix it up, though, and he'll go as far as his opponent wants to take it. He loves children, however, and if anyone tries anything with a kid, they had best have their health insurance paid up. He's got a lot of attitude, and very few people have the nerve to call him on it; more than one has gotten slapped down for his trouble. Still, he's not generally interested in violence, unless he's getting paid for it. Background: Tonnage idolized the big men of the world, being a rather large child; massive wrestlers like Haystacks Calhoun and Abdullah the Butcher encouraged him to work towards a career in athletics, despite his awkwardness. His critics laughed at him, saying he would never succeed. With the help of his best friend and eventual tag team partner Little Louie, however, he silenced those critics soundly. The two of them graduated from high school in the top 5% of their class, and completed degrees at NYU, meanwhile training their bodies to be prime athletes for the wrestling ring. They'd been star players on their high school football team, and parleyed that experience into more complete physical perfection later. The two embarked on a campaign of destruction, intending to make the world pay for the indignities they'd suffered as children; each had been mocked for his size, and now, they meant to take out those frustrations on everyone they could grab. Eventually, the Albany natives left their quest for vengeance behind. That did little to satisfy their desire to inflict punishment, however, and Tonnage was as good as anyone at that. As the team called the Twin Terrors, they devastated anyone that stood in their path. Alone, Tonnage and Louie won titles of many sorts, both specific to their weight ranges and in general competition. Eventually, years of battles won and titles earned afforded them respect and admiration across several continents. The pair's first stop was in Halifax, Nova Scotia, in a little promotion called the East Coast Wrestling Federation. There, Tonnage met a woman named Wendy McAllister. She happened to be the daughter of the man running the ECWF, and took the mantle of leadership when her father retired. She was tall, leggy, beautiful, athletic... and took absolutely zero guff from the big man, despite how dangerous he was. After he left the promotion and the conflict of interest was resolved, the two began dating. They've been married for ten years. More recently, Tonnage has been in semi-retirement himself, making good use of his aquired wealth to keep he and Wendy in good shape, without having to stress himself much in the ring. He and Lou received a call from their agent, who had arranged for them to meet with production company officials on the set of the new movie they were to start shooting. For some reason unclear to him, the producers had chosen Arizona to shoot most of the scenes. Unfortunately, Lou missed their flight to Phoenix because of a severe stomach flu, but he insisted the big man go ahead and get started. So, Tonnage flew to Phoenix, and endured a lengthy ride in a ridiculously compact rental car to reach the location, only to suffer a breakdown. Walking half an hour along the road, he comes across a sprawling town in the middle of nowhere named Jamesville. Finding himself a room in the hotel, he drifts off into unpleasant, overly warm slumber... ... and oversleeps to wake in the mid-afternoon wakes to discover the town is quieter than one would have expected, even on a Sunday. No church bells, no children playing, no traffic sounds, no dogs barking or birds singing ... Some guys have all the luck. Skills/talents: Tonnage is a premier hand to hand combatant, having many hours in the ring and in the gym behind him. Unlike what most people think of pro wrestling, the big man really does know how to fight; Louie is an expert in Hapkido, a Korean martial art system, and has given his large friend more than a few pointers over the years. He is also highly intelligent, and studied to a full PhD in Computing Science from NYU. He occasionally gives lectures at the school, particularly on his speciality, database technologies. He's not big on firearms, but has gone to the shooting range on a few occasions, and can easily handle the recoil from guns that would be unusable by neophytes of lesser stature. Strengths/Weaknesses: Power - Tonnage is simply one of the strongest human beings on Earth. He is capable of pressing at least 800 pounds over his head with little strain, and has demonstrated his ability to twist 1/4 inch steel rods into knots on more than one occasion. Endurance - Despite his size, Tonnage is able to travel for long distances, and fight multiple opponents, without need for rest. With smart conservation of his reserves and sufficient water, he could likely make the trek to Phoenix without suffering more than a little sunburn. Slow - Unfortunately, size isn't always a bonus. Tonnage's huge frame makes him very slow on his feet. He can outrun zombies, of course, but the average person would run circles around him. Insulting - Tonnage has a unique way of looking at other people. Usually, it involves some kind of putdown, uttered directly into the person's face. He's not the kind of guy who makes a lot of friends, and really doesn't care much about that. However, it does tend to make teamwork difficult, unless the people in question have proven themselves capable to him. Firearms Knowledge - Tonnage has shot a few times, but knows basically nothing about guns except to point them at what you want dead, and pull the trigger. He may be able to fire a shotgun with one hand, but that hardly means he'll hit anything, or even know what ammunition to use. Knee Injury - Recently, the big man has suffered a bit of a setback. A couple of weeks before coming to Arizona, Tonnage was in an exhibition match for a children's charity, and landed a bit too heavily on his left knee. He's had pain and some swelling since, and it could be a couple of months before it heals properly. This limits his mobility even further, gives him a distinct limp, and decreases both his ability to use his strength and his endurance for prolonged movement. Back Next Character
