Midi Playing: Sweet Dreams
Name: Phil Redmond Age: 35 Gender: Male Occupation: Auto Mechanic Description: Phil is six feet even, 215 pounds. His black hair is cut short, almost into a crewcut, and his eyes are dark green, like a pine trees needles. He is muscular, but not enormous, with his muscle tone coming from some light weight training and the Kempo Karate he has studied since he was 11. Personality: Phil tends to be a pretty friendly guy, although seeing a whole town full of walking dead won't be good for his people skills at first. He occasionally fancies himself a ladies man, which might get him in trouble with the female characters from time to time. Background: Phil grew up in the old fashioned nuclear family, with both parents living more or less happily married, and two younger siblings(a brother named Alex, 30, and a sister named Amanda, 24). Phil didn't have a lot of friends growing up, but the ones he had are still friends with him to this day, plus he played with his kid brother and sister quite a bit, and they also remain pretty close. He took to mechanics when he started helping Dad with a few minor repairs on the family car around age 8 or so, and when Mom bought him `Enter the Dragon' for his 11th birthday, he became interested in the martial arts. He went out about a week later and found a small but well-kept dojo a few minutes walk from his school, and started studying Kempo later that week. Phil has been an avid pursuer of both mechanics and martial arts ever since, which is what vexes him the most about his current situation. While driving to a freestyle martial arts tournament in Phoenix, Phil ended up on the highway leading past Jamesville, where his car died on him a few miles past town. Despite his talent with cars, he lacked the parts to fix it on the spot, and was in no mood to push it nine or ten miles, so he left the car and headed back to the town he had passed about 20 minutes back. Seeing no one near the garage, and being tired out after walking for almost an hour and a half following several hours of driving he headed next for the hotel, where he came upon the remains of a couple of bodies. Being shocked, to say the least, he began following the trail of gore toward the mall, hoping to catch up with whoever killed the people. Skills/talents: Auto mechanics (top-notch); general electrical and mechanical repair skills(a talented do-it-yourselfer, but not professional skill); martial arts(specifically Kempo Karate, 6th dan black belt). Phil has some skill with firearms, but not a lot, having gone hunting once or twice a year with his Dad and Alex as a kid. Basically, he knows how to take care of a firearm, and the basics of using a gun(mainly rifles). He dabbled in bow hunting, but never got the hang of it. Strengths: Agility - Because of his years of Kempo training, Phil has developed great flexibility and reflexes, which can only look faster when compared to a bunch of shambling corpses. :) Leaping - Although not quite as wacky as watching Bruce Lee jump his own height from a standing position, Phil has managed to work his way up to about a 4 foot vertical from a nearly stationary position. He can manage several feet more than this horizontally, especially with a run-up of any significant distance. Weaknesses: Dim - Phil isn't stupid, but he can be a little slow to pick up on things sometimes. He seems to have a knack for things that interest him, like Kempo and cars, but most other stuff can take some time to sink in from time to time. Nightblind - Although his daylight vision is almost perfect 20/20, Phil's eyes run rather short of rods, which means his night vision is pretty limited. He can see at night, and can still do things like drive a car(headlights), but when the ambient light starts getting dim(if the moon is mostly waned, or on a cloudy night, especially when he's pretty far from artificial light sources) Phil can be at a distinct disadvantage when doing anything that requires vision. He has done some dabbling into blindfighting with his Kempo, but this is still useless for long-range combat, so he might do more harm than good if trying to fire a gun at night. Back
