Police Sgt. Steven Cooper

Midi Playing: Hill Street Blues

Name: Steven Cooper

Age: 29

Gender: Male

Occupation: Police Sergeant, Jamesville Police Department

Description: Steven Cooper is 6' tall and weighs in at about 190 lbs. He has very little fat on his body ... his flat stomach and well-muscled arms and legs betray a sense of pride in his health and fitness. His short dark-brown hair and deep brown eyes frame a handsome face ... no heartthrob but very presentable.

Personality: Coop is a fairly amiable man ... for a cop. He'll take no nonesense from a felon but, in private, he's the kind of guy that a woman would be happy to take home to meet her parents. However, no woman has been able to get *that* close to Coop ... yet. He has a sense of humour but likes to be in control both at work and in his private life. Coop loves Country Music and hates rap and other raucous sounds.

Background: Born in Jamesvile, Arizona, the son, indeed only child, of a cop and grandson of a cop, Coops career was mapped out from an early age. He did well at school, graduating high in his class, and was an outstanding cadet at the Police Academy in Flagstaff. He was soon returned to Jamesville a fully qualified, but green, 19 year old patrolman. Coop soon showed his true colours and advanced with alacrity through the ranks until he reached his niche ... sergeant. He then stopped striving to reach higher. Sergeant was his goal and sergeant he'd reached and Coop was a happy man. Jamesville was a small town and, had Coop gained further promotion, he was afraid he'd have lost touch with the people and that was something he wasn't willing to do ... to Coop Police work meant people.

Skills/talents: As a cop Coop is a marksman with a handgun, proficient with a shotgun and had a working knowledge of rifles. He is a driver without peer and a Demon in Hot Pursuit but has had little chance to show off his skills behind the wheel in this sleepy town. His skills of detection are quite good but unpracticed ... I mean, who would ever commit a crime in Jamesville?

Apart from Karen Baxter whom he arrested on an outstanding warrant when he pulled her over for speeding. That was the evening before all this happened. The Sergeants self defence with fists, feet and baton are appreciable but, again, a little rusty. He can access files on a computer but ask him to hack or program and he'll look at you as if you're stupid ... before he throws the hacker in the slammer.

In his off-duty time Coop is a proficient horseman and a keen fisherman. Due to the close proximity of the Navajo Reservation he also has a passing knowledge of the native tongue and customs.

Strengths/Weaknesses:

STRENGTHS: Coop usually remains cool under pressure and is not too queasy at the sight of blood, except his own, of course. But who knows how he'll react to the disaster that has befallen Jamesville? This is something new to everyone. Marksmanship with a handgun is probably his primary survival strength, along with his and-to-hand combat skills. His strong resolve allows him to surmount many obstacles that would normally have prevented him from achieving certain goals.

WEAKNESSES: Coops sense of loyalty to his fellow man is probably his greatest weakness as well as a strength. He'll put his own safety in jeopardy to ensure the safety of his charge(s). He also has an abject fear of heights that requires all of his resolve to overcome but, given half a chance, he won't ascend to any physical heighst. Just try to get him into an airplane or, even, up a ladder.
