Laziness is rampant!
Maybe its just me, or is it true that every generation of Americans are lazier then the one before???
My age group (21-24) have been in the workplace now for a few years now give or take depending on how long we spent in college. I am now starting to welcome into my chosen profession (Nursing) new graduates and beginners. Maybe its just been my experiences, but what a bunch of laziness I see. Whats worse is that I am now starting to see even another generation come into the workforce (17-20). And most of them are even lazier then mine. Heck mine is 10 times lazier then my parents and grandparents ever thought about being. As Americans we have become accustomed to a somewhat stable economy and working parents. My generations mothers usually worked at least part time, and often us kids were spoiled to a certain extent. Most of us had the chance to graduate highschool and attend college. All at our parents expense. I am speaking in general terms here, the majority. I know that there is an exception to all of my points here. I am not calling all young Americans lazy. Just most. Yes some of us worked our a*ss*s off in highschool and college and paid for everything we have (I did pretty much!) but the majority did not. The point I am getting to is this...if we keep getting lazier, what will this country be in 10-15 years. When mom and pops on a low income because they have not saved very much for retirement and we can no longer depend on them for help with the car payment, or gas money? What will happen when we can't even get a teenager to go to school because they have to actully do something there? It personally scares me to know that my little brothers generation (18-21) is the next wave of employees to come into the work force. My little brother was raised with the same parents and same circumstances as myself, I love him to death but him and his friends are the laziest sacks of doodoo I have seen! They whine because they have to work 40 hrs a week which doesn't leave enough xbox time, or have quit their partime jobs so they can start college this fall. In nursing, it has been commen practice to hire young people fresh out of highschool to train and provide care to the patients. We call them CNA's (certified nursing assistants). A few weeks of training and a state test later they are expected to be knowledgble enought to help patients with things like bathing and toileting. We usually hire 10 or so on a monthly basis, train them and put them to work. They whine,b*tch, and complain as soon as they are expected to do anything. We usually retain 1 out of every 10 in the first month and usually 0 by month 2. At this rate there is an alarming shortage of qualified individuals to provide neccessary care to patients. Sorry such a long rant here...just kinda p*ss*d me off tonight when I overheard two kids b*tching because they are on the work sched. for
40 hours this week. 40 hours! I am going to say it, even though I am sure I will get hate mail anyhoo...THIS RANT DOES NOT APPLY TO EVERYONE THIS AGE...only most.
