The Thespians: Lien Nguyen, Toby Darling and Pascal Curio.  Cameo guest appearance by The Orb Of Wonder
Location: Practical Magics - Triangular Chamber

Notes: Uh... this was uber fun!  Didn't quite have the time to put in all the RP before Pascal arrived, but go visit Toby Darling's character page for the log.  Link is on the main Pascal character page.  I also didn't have the time to include the colours, but believe you and I, it will be done!

The looks of the room certainly fit its name. Blue walls and floor are
darkened from the lack of sunlight that enters the room; no other light
provided save that that streams in through the doors. The room itself has
three corners, and is shaped like a rather disorientating triangle; the
illusion of the room not even having any walls is easier to imagine based
on the little light and the fact that the entire room is the same shade of
navy blue. Each wall contains an opening into other hallways and mysterious
parts of the building.

When one has nothing to do, and for the moment, no real want to make anyone's life miserable without them really realizing how it happened, one must resort to walking. Another 'favorite past-time' of Pascal's, and this girl has wandered from building to building, just silently skulking through the halls. In this part of the building, however, her movements are less than silent. Her cowboy boots click with dull echoes upon the floors here, and as she approaches this room, she stops short, hearing voices. She slows her approach on the room, but it'll be rather apparent that someone is coming.
The shaking stops. Lien releases Toby's shoulder's and looks up toward the doors, where all of the room's light is coming from anyway. Her face is still red and her hands shaking; she actually appears pretty upset with Toby, though now she's just listening to see who's coming and what they want. And maybe how long they've been there. She really wouldn't like word to get around that she was out in the forest that one time... not that it was THAT big of a deal, but... Lien doesn't break the rules a lot.
Toby is quiet and says nothing. Apparently he's thinking nothing, too, because he's totally silent, just staring at the door...
Dammit. Now she's spoiled any possibility of spying and gaining icky secrets that could potentially be used for, well, blackmail. Pascal emerges from the shadows and now steps into the room, with a small smirk upon her face. She caught the last part of Lien shaking Toby, so she'd seen the younger girl with her hands upon the boy's shoulders. Recognizing both students from the dungeon of the evil purple whale, she gives them both nods. "Have I interrupted a romantic interlude?" She asks, her voice innocent and her eyebrows raised in mock apology. Let's see what kind of rise she gets out of either.
And this is the part where Lien curls up into a little ball and dies at the thought of yet another unsavory rumor about herself running around. Well, not literally, but she might as well. That's GROSS! "What do you want?" Yes, she's sensitive AND defensive--does she WORK at being such an easy target, or does it come naturally?
"Romantic interlude? Um...No." Toby stops talking and starts thinking aloud: "Romance? Girls? EEwww." He turns to the girl he met in the library. "Lien's convinced that my blue orb thing won't work in the forest. It will, won't it?"
"Whoa, calm down there, tiger. No need to rear your claws at me just yet," Pascal says calmly to Lien, looking at the younger girl up and down a few times, her stare seeming to be rather critical. Weight shifts to one leg and she crosses her arms in front of her. She would say more, except Toby's distracted her train of thought. "You're going to have to tape your mouth shut soon, aren't you?" She's referring to his inability to keep his thoughts to himself at the moment. Thank god /she/ didn't piss of Ivanovna. The mention of the orb brings a light to her green eyes. "You won't know until you try it now, will you?" Wink.
"It won't work," Lien insists, face settling into a dark and vaguely irritated expression. "And it wasn't very nice for you to make him think it would." Oh, if you only know, Lien. "It's not a funny joke," she says, unaccountably earnest, "something really bad could happen."
"How do you know it won't work, Lien! Just because you're afraid of the place doesn't mean that everyone should be!" Toby catches himself screaming at her. Here comes the thinking out loud again: "Hey, great job. Screaming at the girl who has become your closest friend her at school... I wonder if she knows that."
Weight shifts to the other foot, and Pascal looks back and forth between the two students delightedly. She doesn't even have to do anything and already there's so much tension she'd have to through it with her little prize she took from the Olive. She stares at Lien, her face dead serious, eyes narrowed. "How much you want to bet that it won't work?" She pauses and smirks at Toby. "Want to prove her wrong?" She jerks her head at Lien.
"Don't you dare!" Lien's brown eyes go wide behind her glasses and she shoots Toby a -very- sharp warning look. "She's just trying to get you hurt!" And, just to complete the stick-in-the-mud, goody-two-shoes appearance, "I'll get a teacher."
Toby just plain ignores Lien's outburst. He digs in his pocket and pulls out the orb. He hands it to the girl whose name he still doesn't know and wonders about that: "What's this girl's name, anyway?" As he hands it to the girl: "Here, you messed with it, you prove it."
Pascal Curio uncrosses her arms and takes the orb from Toby's possession and holds it in her palm for a moment. She continues to stare at Lien, and makes no comment to Toby's thought-out-loud. "I wouldn't tell a teacher if I were you," she says calmly, and with a shake of her right hand, her wand appears. She jerks her head towards the exit. "Tell a teacher now, and you'll never find out if this things really works." She pauses and tilts her head to the side. "I'm sure you're just a curious as the next person to find out. Don't fight it." Another wink.
Toby Darling thinks out loud, but says nothing else: "Yeah, that's a good point. I bet Lien really is curious about that. I know I am, I'm just kind of afraid to try it myself. Please don't tell a teacher, Lien. Just be cool with it just this once." He covers his mouth, almost as though he's surprised that he's talking again...
"Oh no I'm not!" Lien -appears- to be entirely truthful on this point. If she's curious, she's frightened enough of what might happen that it's not showing. Again her eyes flash over to Toby, her breathing frantic through her nose. "Why don't *you* THINK just this once? There's all sorts of things in there! Hellhounds! YOU CAN'T FIGHT A HELLHOUND!"
"Oh, but Toby is thinking," Pascal says rather matter of factly. How does she know his name? Oh, yeah, SPYING. "He's thinking so hard that he can't even keep his mouth shut because of it," she comments dryly. She tosses the orb up and down in the air, every time her fingers coming oh-so close to the red button. But she hasn't yet tapped the orb with her wand. "Toby, think fast," she says, and the orb arcs in the air towards the boy.
Toby Darling catches the orb and without even hesitating or thinking, pulls his wand from the pocket of his robe, taps the orb, hits the red button, and tosses it across the room. It lands with a -kachunk-. Nothing happens for a second or two. Then, suddenly, without warning, a blinding flash of light and a loud crack come out of the orb followed by a heavy fog. qToby feels an... odd... sensation. He feels as though he's getting taller very quickly. He looks down at the floor which is now eight feet below him. His hands feel strange and upon looking at them he finds that they have turned into gigantic, hairy paws with claws that could rip apart a small cow. He looks at the other two in the room and they have undergone similar transformations. "Holy crap! What'd you do to that thing!?" Only the words sound a little funny... Toby seems to have grown fangs, too. "Wow!"
Lien is too freaked out for words; she just claps her hands to her mouth, immediately jerking them away and leaping to her feet with a look of revulsion. She slumps weakly against the wall and stares at Pascal and Toby, fumbling with glasses with her now even clumsier than usually paws. She finally gets them straight and fixes Toby with a pleading look that can only mean, "Make it stop!"
A low threatening rumble escapes from Pascal's throat she stretches her arms out, retracting and extending her claws. A toothy grin erupts over her face and she growls in delight at Toby, overall seeming rather smug with the whole situation. "How about you say we go find ourselves some hellhounds. You two can consider it your first date ever together. What a memory." She laughs again and then looks at Lien in some slight disdain. A tail has apparently ripped through her robe (now she'll have to get a new one) and it seems to have a life of its own, waving and gesturing at Lien to get up and away from the wall.
"Wow! I think it works!" Toby walks... er... RUMBLES across the room one huge, huge step at a time. Slowly (because quickly he'd fall over) he bends over and picks up the orb. (thought: "I think I need to rename this thing. Orb of Wonder sounds pretty cool.") He holds it between two foot-long claws on his left hand. Looking at the two girls (who look rather ravishing in their fur, claws, and fangs) he presses the red button again with a claw on his other hand. Almost instantly a loud -pop- is heard and all three shrink back to their normal size and species. "Wow! That was the COOLEST thing I've ever seen!" He stands totally dumbstruck for a few seconds. "Um... Lien? I think it works!" Quickly, almost knowing that Lien is going to do something... rash... toward him, he stuffs the orb of wonder back into his pocket and crosses his arms in defense. (Thought: "I'm about to get beat up... by a girl half my size...")
But Lien doesn't come to beat him up (like she would after hearing him think that anyway?), nor does she follow Pascal's tail away from the wall. She just wraps her arms around her human-again body and slips back down it to the floor again. "Not cool, Toby," she says, face pulled into a sulk, or something like.
Pascal Curio's robe has not survived this ordeal. She was actually planning on testing out her claws against the wall of the room, and just before her arm came down, she shrunk. Going back to her original size, her robe is completely in tatters, but at least her clothes underneath were intact. "And you thought it wouldn't work," is her only comment, directed both at Toby and Lien as she stares at the both out of the corner of her eye.
Toby Darling stands in shock. "That. Was. Awesome." (Thought: "I'd bow before you, girl, if I knew your name.") He looks at Lien, who doesn't seem very thrilled. "What do you mean not cool? Were you afraid of yourself or something?"
Toby -probably- doesn't mean to, but the question doesn't come off very well to Lien. She scowls at Toby. "That HAS to be against the rules," is all she says.
Shedding her robe quickly, so that all she's wearing now is her white cotton shirt and blue jeans, Pascal smirks at both Toby and Lien. "But what are rules, except things to be broken?" She flings what's left of her green robe over her shoulder, and the cowboy boots sound again as she turns away to walk off, giving the pair a mock salute. "The name's Pascal Curio," she calls out, and her form disappears into the shadows.
"Okay... I'm going to get going now... since I'm here, alone, with a girl who is rumored to be violent. Bye Lien! See you sometime tomorrow!" Toby makes a quick exit... but what part of that was thinking and what part of that was talking?
Rumored to be violent? Toby was THERE for the incident that that rumor refers to! "Hope you get eaten!" Lien calls after him crossly. Serve him right, wouldn't it.
