How the Id Can be Related to Children

The id is like a child. The id works out of the Pleasure Principle. Like a child, the id wants. The id does not grow up. It sees what it wants and that's all it thinks about until it gets what it desires. The id never grows up. It never learns. It wants. And just like a child, the id can cope with not getting what it wants. When the id doesn't get what it wants, it makes mental images - day dreams. When children don't get what they want they use their imagination to create their own "alternate reality;" or... they cry.
