In the beginning
It all started when my friends and I discovered a couple of pool tables at the dinning hall at my secondary school (Walworth). The game seems very hard to begin with and some were always better than others, I was the latta. From there my friends and I went to play at a snooker club (Lewisham) for those who know where that is.
At Lewisham, I had my first real experience on a full size snooker table. I tell you now it was impossible to pot any ball not outside the pockets. We didn’t return there much, only ever other week when we had nowhere else to go, plus it was not the closest club. Rileys at Elephant & Castle was the nearest.
In the middle
We started going Rileys to play junior snooker competitions, held early on Sundays. At this point in our lives we were getting better on the full size tables, but I think my highest break was 38, which was great for me at the time, but little did I know that others at my age then were making centuries. Oh, how careless of me not to introduce my snooker friends to you.
Well there was Phillip, David, William and Kiet. Phillip was the best player between us five, but that was because he had a little snooker table at home that he practised on from a very young age. Next was me and the rest were around about the same I guess.
Not long after starting playing at Rileys, we also played a lot of snooker at Camberwell, which I guess was the next nearest club. I preferred Camberwell to Rileys because the atmosphere in Rileys was not very friendly. Also in Camberwell I met a lot of new friends and better snooker players.
Where I am now
I have just been sent the membership form and entry forms to the EBSA snooker tournament.
