Williams to do Music for JP4? - Posted By: Sk8er on ~ Saturday October 19th, 2002.
I know, I know... I'm pretty late with this news, and I planned on putting it up earlier, but I forgot. T-Rextacy sent it to me, and I figured I'd post it (yet several days late). For anyone hasn't heard yet, CountingDown.com reports that Williams said:
"Well, I'm certainly busy as ever, which I enjoy. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is definitely in my future. Star Wars Episode 3 will follow that, which I'm very much looking forward to doing. It's like the completion of an epic journey. Then I'm back with Steven Spielberg for the fourth Indiana Jones, an exciting project that seems to have attracted incredible interest. Steven has also expressed his desire for me to score the next Jurassic Park film, which he is developing presently. It's a genre I would just adore to revisit, so I'll do my best to be available for it."
Part I of "Alan & Ellie" Released! - Posted By: Sk8er on ~ Friday October 18th, 2002.
Today, Yvonne released her eagerly anticipated part one of her story "Alan & Ellie":
The story is based on Alan Grant and Ellie Satler, before the events in Jurassic Park took place. Ellie, (Age 23), has to get her thesis to become a Paleobiologist, but after an incident on the road, she is picked up by Alan Grant, who assists her in the following events that occur the rest of the night. Read Chapter 1. Several days later, at the Montana digsite, she has another encounter with Alan "Dr." Grant. Read Chapter 2. Definitly a story for all JP-Fans alike, "Alan & Ellie" so far, will be one that goes down in JP fan history for years to come...
Variety talks JP4! - Posted By: Sk8er on ~ Friday October 18th, 2002.
Slash N' Spino reports that 'Variety', the number 1 news/rumor magazine published daily in Hollywood recently had an interesting interview with Universal spokesperson, Jeff Daniels who gave away an interesting piece of Jurassic Park 4 information. The article says Daniel said as follows:
Q: "Is the rumor true about another Jurassic Park installment?"
A: "Yes it is in the early stages and the script is awesome and rivals the first film."
Q: "What is the latest scoop on the film?"
A: "I think I can tell you a little. As you all may or may not know, Universal wanted a Mososaur, a giant reptilian sea creature from the Jurassic, to appear in the films opening scene involving Enriques Cardosa's boat being attacked, killing the men on board and distroying the ship, but due to the duration of the film, Universal was froced to cut the CGI Mososaur from the shot and just put a thick blanket of fog instead. Well, some of the Universal team that is currently working on Jurassic Park 4 are despritly trying to convince Spielberg to put the Mososaur in the film."
Q: "What did you have in mind for the Mososaur?"
A: "Okay, I'll spill the beans a little more (laughs). Universal wants the Mososaur to attack a boat, or even a low flying plane. To have a plane containing six passengers, fly low over the location when suddenly the Mososaur bursts from the water and grabs the plans ski in its jaws and send it crashing down. Then we go to an under-water shot of the passengers kicking a window lose and swimming out, one passenger being not so lucky clasped in the animals jaws and dragged under. Happy now? (again he laughs)"
Q: "Is this scene offical as of now?"
A: "Not as of now, but Steven seems to really like the idea and may put it in the film, but we're not sure as of now."
Thanks for your time Jeff, can't wait to see the film.
Jeff: "You're welcome."

Horner's Interview - Posted By: Sk8er on ~ Monday October 14th, 2002.
Famous Paleontologist (and the dinosaur consultant for the JP movies), Jack Horner took some time away from his day-to-day life to answer a few questions from fans via an email with JPDatabase. Malcolm (from JPDb) released the following part of the interview (First released at JPA):
Question: How much of a difference was it working with Joe Johnston in JP3, than Steven Spielberg in the other films?
Jack: I like both of the directors a lot. But Joe Johnston is very interested in paleontology and has come out to the field every summer for the last three years. So he and I have become very good friends. Steven, is a good guy, but I don't know him personally as well as Joe.
Question: What species are the 'compys' in The Lost World and Jurassic Park 3 based off? Procompsognathus triassicus or Compsognathus longipes? Also, do you think it was really possible for the compys to have been pack hunters?
Jack: Compsognathus [longipes], and no, I don't think its likely they were pack-hunters.
Question: Were there any dinosaur characterisics that you did not like or had a problem with in the JP trilogy but were still used because Spielberg/Johnston wanted them?
Jack: T-rex runs too fast, and none of the dinos are colorful enough.
Question: In the making of JP you seemed rather upset with the idea of the raptor sticking out their tongues like snakes because it potrayed them more like reptiles than birds; were you as upset with the Dilophosaurus having a neck frill like an existing reptile today?
Jack: No, there is no evidence suggesting that it didn't have a frill. That is fictional license, but we know thatdinosaurs didn't have forked tongues.
Question: How long have you believed that Tyrannosaurus was a scavenger? Did you ever try to influence them to show any of the dinosaurs scavenging in Jurassic Park and/or The Lost World?
Jack: For about 10 years. Yes, and T-rex is portrayed as a scavenger in JP-III.
Look for the full interview at JPDb when it gets running again.
