Water’s secrets ever hide, Distorted truth, but never lies. I saw an angel, its reflection, Or a memory, a recollection? Past and present ever bleed, Comprising my eternity. Did I see hope on water’s edge, Or a ghost from mem’ries dread? Blood and ashes always stain, Taint my soul, and never fade. My punishment yet keeps me here, Away from lives that I hold dear. Cold as winter, dead as bones, No life remains amidst the stones. Yet I saw hope, or its reflection. Not a memory or recollection. Freedom’s promise calls to me, Ending my eternity. Yet as I plunged forth into water’s cold, I sprung a trap, centuries old. No golden angel did I find, Nor hope to help keep me alive. Just past and present, they ever bleed, Comprising my eternity. |
