MICHELIN SPORT

DURATION DATE BIKE OVERALL RATING
Currently fitted still being run in (50 miles) 30/11/2002 Kawasaki ZX-6R J1 Ninja bloody marvellous so far!

OVERVIEW

"A hyper-sport tyre built for road use, the Pilot Sport combines the thrill of the racing tyre with the stability of a road radial, all thanks to a revolutionary new development, the Michelin Radial Delta construction. Similar to Pilot Race, the tyre casing comprises a zero degree ply with two crown plies laid cross-wise at 75 degrees, technology derived from Grand Prix racing. This tyre offers considerably improved road handling and safety on wet surfaces as well as increased mileage."  www.michelin.co.uk

So far I cannot believe how impressive these tyres are.  They just seem like they just need a dry afternoon with no traffic on your favourite country lane where you can go to scrub them in and ride fairly quickly considering they are new.  The grip right from new is so impressive that I am wandering what on earth they will allow me to do over the summer months!

The feedback at the moment seems to be very impressive and as a result I was able to powerslide the bike on several occasions on country lanes whilst returning home after having the tyres fitted.  The Pilots have also quickened the ZX6R's steering and the tyre's profile is orientated around fast road use and the contact patch at moderate lean angles feels very reassuring encouraging confidence.

WET WEATHER PERFORMANCE

Considering the fact that the tyres are still new and I rode home (25 miles or so) just as fast as I went to the bike shop in the damp/greasy conditions says a lot.  The grip seems plentiful and will only get better as the tyres are fully scrubbed in.  Right from new, you can start to achieve some impressive lean angles as long as you don't get on the power early and spin the rear up and spit yourself off the bike.

To be commented on.

SUMMARY

The best £250 I have spent on the bike so far!  A comprehensive review will be added when applicable.
