RULES
1) Once you join, you have a week. In this week you can read the messages, decide who you would care to be, and think about where you would like to go with that character. After that week has passed, you will have one day to post. Yes, you can post during that first week. This is only to prevent lurkers from latching themselves onto the list and watching as we make asses of ourselves.
2) Original characters are welcome. Mary Sues are not. Don't think we can't tell the difference. Even the Dark Lord has weaknesses, no character should be almighty. Other than that, go nutty.
3) Cursing is fine. Swearing is fine. Bad spelling is not fine. I'm sorry but each time the other moderator (Draco) comes across someone who misspelled their as they're, she flings her laptop across the room while screaming something about weasels. To help keep her sanity, I implore you to either write with a dictionary near you or to use smaller words.
4) Proofread your work. I don't mean for you to give it to your English teacher with the long ruler. Just look back over it. We don't care about commas. We care about legibility.
5) No talking for other characters. There are some exceptions to this rule. Some very minor exceptions.
6) Rape is fine, so long as you e-mail the other person beforehand and ask their permission.
7) Murder is fine, only see above. Same goes for heavy mutilations. Scars and abrasions and other minor wounds are fine and don't necessarily need permission.
8) In regards to posting, everything depends. If you are involved in a scene with another person, then at the very least, there should be one post a day. It is highly unfair to the other person to be placed on hold. If you do not post for over two days straight, we will send you a personal e-mail enquiring the reasons for your prolonged absence.
9) We understand if your having troubles at home or working or at school. We all have lives outside of online. Well, save for me. If you feel that you will be away from the computer and won't be able to post, we expect you to tell us this beforehand. Don't leave us guessing.
10) If someone is going away for a few days and they're in the middle of a scene, then the action will take place around that person.
Example: Lucius, Draco, Snape, and Harry are in the middle of a foursome. (This is about as likely to happen as Rowling writing the damn fifth book.) Suddenly Draco's player decides to go rob a bank and foolishly gets caught and thrown into jail for a week. The sex will go on with Draco only being moved by the others. Sort of like a puppet. However, no one is allowed to speak for a character.
If one goes away and they are not in the middle of a scene and one should come up while they are gone, then the same rules apply. And again, no speaking for the characters.
11) I don't want to catch anyone not drinking.
12) There are too many rules.
And now that I have successfully bored you out of your skull, we can move onto more important things. Things such as Unforgiveable Curses.
Now, I'm aware that there are lists out there that don't allow the usage of such things, but this isn't about them. It's about us. Not about my personal betrayals, which are many. No, it's about helping people help themselves! And now, onto the rules of the curses!
Imperius Curse - Imperio can be used in moderation, ie, no doing it to everyone...but everyone in this group seems to be a very good roleplayer, and nobody is immature enough to not know the common-sense rules of roleplaying. After one has used it on another character, it can only run through five e-mails and then it must be taken off. For example, Person A used it on Person B. They each get five e-mails in which to do with it whatever they agreed upon. After which, the curse must be taken off. It can be within five or less e-mails.
Cruciatus Curse - Before using any unforgiveable curse, you must first Email the owner of the character you wish to use the curse on, and get their approval first. No exceptions can be made, even if there's a no-name character used just for backdrop purposes. If this is the case, do an OOC email to everyone, and make sure nobody has plans for this character. Also, this is to be used in moderation. Much of the same rules apply here that apply to the Imperius curse.
Avada Kedavra - Avada Kedavra may be used if permission is obtained first. But, of course, no Harry-killing and no killing Voldemort, obviously.
And I think that should cover that.
Draco, care to take us back?
"You don't want to go making friends with the wrong sort. I can help you there."
