Pansy is a rather... troubled girl. Most HP readers and fanfic writers despise her, but you can hardly find anyone who thinks less of her than herself. Maybe her father..

Pansy was a deception in every way to him. First of all, he had wanted a boy. Secondly, his beloved wife passed away due to some disease caused by Pansy's birth. This did not add greatly to her image before her father's eyes.

Not that he hit her... but sometimes she wished he would. Certainly it would have been better than being totally ignored. Baby Pansy could have cried herself into starvation had it not been for the house elves. And he didn't even encourage them to become fond of her. As far as he, Mr. Parkinson, was concerned, he had no daughter. He seldom talked to her, and when he did so it was either because it was extremely necessary or because she had done something that deserved retaliation. It happened mainly because he couldn't bare to look at that young replica of his wife. This, in spite of all her attempts, couldn't get her daddy to be with her, to say anything to her but words of disapproval. She was never good enough for him.

Pansy, being under the starsign of Pisces, was naturally sensitive and therefore suffered a lot with her father's attitude. She grew alone inside her house, and got used to pretending. Pretending that she had friends to play with, pretending that her father cared and was just too busy. Although not particularly intelligent, she had a powerful imagination and was keen on what she believed; she was as stubborn as a mule and when she decided that something was true she simply wouldn't listen to anyone saying otherwise.

Pansy, as any good Slytherin, is willing to do anything to achieve her goals. If only she knew which goals were these... her future seemed blurry. Her father was a Death Eater, and she had seriously considered joining Voldemort. But she feared that he was as hard to please as her father, and that she couldn't take being a deception on someone else. Besides, it was too painful, it took too much of real world to plan her future. It was far easier to shut all away and dream of marrying Draco Malfoy.

The blond had caught her eye since their very first year on Hogwarts. He was strong, independent, easy-going. She so wished that she could be like that... But what struck her first was to see how much he talked about his father, how close they seemed to be, how much Mr. Malfoy seemed to care. She wanted that for herself. She admired Draco for all he had and all he represented, and was glad to give herself to his leadership. He was so brilliant, and she was happy to tag along. She didn't mind being let down innumerable times; her mind used the same system it used with her father. He didn't do it on purpose. He loved her.

She didn't want to hear about whether he was interested or not.

She didn't want to hear... she preferred talking. Being not too self-confident and a little more nervous than normal, she had found this way out of shyness: to talk well over average. Also known for her particularly loud and potentially damaging frenzys of rage, Pansy will bitch all the same about breaking a nail or finding Draco in bed with someone. Then she'll run off to her room and cry lots, and with blurry vision and eye-liner messed, she'll search for her medicine. Yup. Depressive people with low self-esteem do tend to take some medicine. And she is rather fond of doping, of losing herself in the blur. According to her it can be achieved by having sex, drinking one too many shots of tequila, doing drugs or potions or her medicine and through pain, hers or someone else's. Pansy has tried all these, and remained faithful to sex and her medicine. The first one brought her somewhat close to Draco... and that was where she wanted to be.

Pansy has some redeeming qualities to be put against her overtalkative/suicidal tendencies and her occasional rage attacks. She is loyal, despite being a Slytherin. She is cheerful, although somewhat silly, but her jokes are atrocious. She likes to please people, specially Draco and her father, and would gladly give her life for any of them.
