A child should never have to endure what this woman did during childhood. No woman should have to endure what she did her whole mortal life. Her parents had only thought of her as a means toward riches. A marriage planned when Catrice was a mere child. A age when she should have thought of playing, and not of being prepared to make her future husband happy and well pleased.

The marriage was nothing special, two children married..only to be separated when the time was right for him to take her body as is his right. When they finally came together, it was an even Catrice would always remember with a shudder. And thru the years that followed he would take her body often, and brutally. Her husband thought her useless, and beat her when the mood struck him. He gave her life once.. a son, but that too was taken from her when her son slipped away into death at the mere age of two.

One watched her, one held her when she wept, and one took all her pain away, letting her taste the sweetness of the immortal world. Her mortality taken from her, her Sire took her husbands life as well. But unlike her cruel husband, Catrice was given the gift of immortality..a life she did not chose, but perhaps she did in a way.

And thus, Cat became Ventrue.

For years she walked the lands, knowing of her power, and assuming that one day her Sire would return. That time never came. What did come was the day she wished she could perish, that she could meet the flames of hell with a single jump. The night had grown cold. The thought of her ending her own existence had grown so much that soon it would consume her. She sat upon a boulder, her gaze hypnotized by the cove below. What was her life? What would it take to live another day? Another feast, a ship, a poor fool who thought life had ended for him? As if pulled by a will stronger than her own, she found herself standing on the edge of the boulder, her arms outstretched as if she were ready to grant the cove a meal of her own small frame.

"Sae, ye wish tae die?"

The voice was close, low, yet soothing in its tone. Cat turned, and before her stood a man of myth and legend, of days long forgotten. A friendship offered and taken, the Viking had enveloped her in his embrace that night to never leave her side again..

Erik, King of Vikings, has showed her more of her immortal life then even her sire. He taught her of the Viking Gods, and knew when her questions were mainly of Odin. She had grown to admire Odin, and maybe, just maybe, he will not judge her for what she has become.

To SIONLY, they both journeyed, and soon came to call all their family and friends. Both swore their allegiance to Leonie, Queen of SIONLY.

Shortly after Erik's departure, Xavier came into her life. Childe of the Queen, he was a restless soul, a man tortured by past betrayals and lost love. Like Erik before him, their love too did not last. Again a husband left her alone for weeks, months at a time..and again divorce was granted. Love cannot endure when that love is only one sided.

Life and its choices took Catrice away from SIONLY. She left for reasons of her own, leaving behind those she loved. But life without her home ~ for yes, SIONLY is her home ~ her life was without direction or meaning, dead, as Vampires are thought to be. Cat is Vampire, her mortal body...her soul...reborn into another life. Still, that immortal spirit has a heart, and it was torn and broken when she left her home. It still needs to mend. But SIONLY will mend that tear, and make her whole again.

Like the rhythmic prance of dancer's winged feet lightly tip toeing gliding, leaping, endlessly..

Touching points unknown and back again, gracefully in time with the rushing tide..

Dancing a dance of existence--older than the beginning and newer than all that will come or will be.... .
