Lust (Strength)

Lust

Drawing Lust suggests that there is a reservoir of internal power that can be tapped through the expression of the primal, which may have been largely denied in your day-to-day life. The image encourages the expression of your desires, the exploration of your internal and previously denied impulses. Lust represents taking pleasure in the self, and drawing strength from that pleasure.

The image is of a woman astride a flaming beast. The symbols are inverted in this image. The human woman is a symbol of primal urges, but she is ascendant, and in a spiritual form. The flaming beast is representative of spiritual potential, but in a primal form. The lunar woman is astride the solar beast, but is not being burned by it, and is actually taking pleasure in its movements. The image could even be interpreted as the spiritual beast issuing forth from the activity of the primal woman pleasuring herself, her power coming from her sex.

Transmutation is the primary message of this image, taking something base and transforming it to something spiritual. The urge is to take that which is devalued by society and revel in it on a personal level.

The traditional meaning, much like the traditional image of this card, misses the mark, suggesting internal strength, passive guidance, and subtle power.
