Videl laid down in her bed quietly and thought about what's been going on with her life. She knew that the Gold fighter and Saiyaman were Gohan and he was going to give her flying lessons soon. She was excited about those like nobody's business. She couldn't get herself to sleep though and she knew that it wasn't from excitement (no matter how excited she may be). She laid down in her bed and pulled the covers over her thinking about it.
Her mother? Dead. Her father? Famous martial artist and the idiot who had to beat Cell and make her life miserable. Her? …
She didn't know what she was about. She sighed and wondered what Gohan's life was like. It couldn't be TO much like hers and everyone else's. How many people know how to fly anyway? And think of what else is possible now that flying is… Imagine some of the training these people have! At least some of them… The strongest thing was fighting in her book. To get stronger than her father would be a dream and it would have to make him proud of her…
Something was on her mind though and she couldn't figure it out. It was important, very, but what WAS it? It poked her in the side like a thorn and not leaving her. What was it though? Something so close to her but…
Her eyes drifted shut and snapped open again when she heard the TV in her room somehow came on.
"Today's report, Satan Hercule is now dead from a fatal drug overdose… in other news…" Videl's eyes widened at it. Her dad was…dead? She walked down the stairs and looked around. As she walked she noticed that the statues, paintings and other things of her father had disappeared in what seemed seconds.
She walked outside only to see the world in flames. Videl screamed but then stopped, someone clamped their hands over her mouth.
"Scream and die bitch." She felt the man's hands crawl up her shirt and she was in tears. She was going to be raped… Suddenly his hands were off her in a second and Videl looked around trying to figure out what was going on. Her eyes came face to face with the green thing that her father defeated years before. Her eyes widened when she remembered the news report from earlier Satan Hercule is now dead…, what was going to happen now?
She turned around and Cell didn't follow her. Just went somewhere else to torture and kill people. She ran for what seemed like days when she came to a forest. The tops of the trees were bare and black, showing that the fire had reached them. Looking at the bottoms of the trees, she didn't see much of a difference. It was all charred, but it was still there. That's all that mattered to her.
She ran as far as the slightly dense forest would let her go and sat down on one of the trees. She cried softly. Everything was going so quickly…what was going on?
She heard soft footfall behind her and looked to see a small old woman walking up to her.
"The strongest force is not fighting. This was caused by fighting. Did it help?" Videl looked at her confused.
"What do you mean?" The old woman picked up some of the dirt and began to slowly drop it back down. The dark brown color of the dirt changed to a bright white and when the two met, nothing happened. Videl didn't see the meaning of this. "I still don't understand…"
"The light and the dark do not mix. But see here… they are not fighting each others presence, and nothing happens. Fighting is not what will end all problems. No matter the fight, no matter the problem." The old woman looked her in the eye again. "Fighting is not the strongest force. To save the strongest warrior from a certain death you must do something to prove it…" The woman dissapearred again, leaving the girl even more confused than before, and Videl coughed, some of the dirt getting into her mouth and nose.
When she looked around again she noticed that instead of the forest she was located in before, she was now on a sandy cliff, some of the sand getting into her eyes like the dirt did before.
She looked around her and saw the fight from years ago except something was different. Something wasn't right… her father was cowering on the ground, tears were soaking his face and instead of him fighting Cell, she saw a little blond haired boy.
She looked around and saw some other people she remembered seeing from the tape. All of them just stayed still and watched silently, wondering the outcome of the fight.
She noticed that the blond man who was in the beginning of the tape wasn't there any longer, not even a body. She wondered silently if he had died when her eyes followed a man who was indeed dead. It was the violet haired boy… She looked back to the blond haired boy who was screaming at the top of his lungs… or at least that’s what she thought until she saw his mouth wasn't open.
My fault… He killed him… Dad's dead… Everyone's going to die… My fault…
She saw something roll and nearly threw up noticing that it was a head. She looked over to where it came from and saw that it was her father who rolled it.
She looked back at the boy and then saw Cell bring his leg down on the head. Videl felt another wave of nausea run over her. She was able to see the boy's reaction clearly though.
He screamed and everything about him changed. She brought her hand up to her eyes from the onslaught, and when she moved it, something changed again. The boy was now the golden warrior, or more specifically, the Gohan that she knew. He was glaring at something though. She looked around and saw she was on a different cliff. This one had a ocean by it though. She looked up and saw Gohan powering up more and more. She knew that something terrible was going to happen.
There wasn't an enemy, or anything, and yet…
Her eyes widened with realization. He was going to kill himself.
Suddenly she felt like she was miles away from him and couldn't stop him. She kept on running but he always seemed to get farther and farther away. She took the only alternative that she had…
"GOHAN!! I LOVE YOU!!" Suddenly the light that was filling the cliffs and see with light stopped and he turned to look at her.
"Videl?" He looked forlorn and lost… Videl nodded her head.
"Yes…" She saw him smirk a bit and his eyes lighten.
"Thanks…" Before she could say anything else, she felt a hand on her shoulder and she bolted straight up in her bed. She looked to her left to see one of the maids in the mansion looked at her amused.
"Should I warn Master Hercule of this 'Gohan'?" Videl's eyes widened and she blushed lightly.
"No…I uh mean - WHAT?!" The maid laughed softly.
"You were speaking in your sleep child, and from the sounds of it, it wasn't the prettiest dream either…" Videl shook her head no.
"No…no it wasn't." The maid ruffled her hair a bit.
"You go back to sleep deary. You have those lessons with Gohan tomorrow…" Videl's eyes widened again as the maid left her room again.
She sighed and laid back in her bed and tried to get back to sleep. Hopefully she'd remember enough of the dream to think about it tomorrow, wither that or none of it so she doesn't have to think about it. Either way was fine with her.
Her eyes drifted shut again, and her thoughts ironically, were about Gohan again. But they were dreams.
