”And in the End…” Part XII

The truth was that Lisa wanted Brett back. She really didn’t have to
think about it. Not one bit. She just didn’t want to see so vulnerable.
She figured that if Brett said it was real, it probably was, and she saw
nothing wrong with it. She didn’t want to go on without Brett, she missed
him more then she imagined she ever would. He meant too much to her.
That weekend Brett prepared talk sit down and talk with Lisa about
putting the pieces back together. He had a surprise for her, one he
thought of thoroughly, and one he hoped she would like.
The doorbell rang and Ryan rushed to it, excited to see his father, who
he hadn’t see in a few months. Brett scooped him up and hugged him, happy
to see him.
“He’s been going on and on about you all week,” said Lisa as she handed
him Ryan’s bags.
Brett replied with a slight smile.
“Well, I’m happy to be seeing him again. It’s been a while, but we’ve all
been so busy, I really haven’t had the time. I’m sorry.”
“It’s ok. I saw your story in Star magazine, it’s good to see you got
yourself help.”
“Yeah. I need it and it was thanks to you divorcing me. If you hadn’t
done it, I’d probably still be doing it. Not that I liked hurting you or
anything, it was just an addiction, ya know?”
“Yeah,” replied Lisa. “At least you told me. I didn’t want to divorce you
and you know that, but like I said way back when it all happened, I
couldn’t go on like that. It really hurt to lose you, because you meant so
much to me, and you still do.”
“ Yeah. It’s the same way for me. I guess the love we had will never
fade. So,” said Brett as he knelt down on his knee and pulled a velvet
case out of his pocket, “Lisa, will you be my wife again?”
Slowly the tears ran out of Lisa’s eyes and down he cheeks. She shook her
head and replied yes and embraced Brett in a huge hug, while Ryan watched,
wondering what exactly was going on. Were his mommy and daddy getting back
together? He sure hoped so.
Brett and Lisa were re-married five months later, and happy together like
when they had first became husband and wife, before Fuel was huge and
known by everyone around the world.
Brett couldn’t stop apologizing to Lisa for what he had done, but Lisa
assured him that she had put it in the past. She hadn’t necessarily
forgotten about it, but put it behind her and was ready to focus on the
future of their family, things had changed, and she hoped they had changed
for the best.
A year later Brett and Lisa welcome their second child, a baby girl named
Kayla Lynn, into the world and Fuel went to work on it’s seventh album.
As the years passed Fuel went on to become one of the biggest and most
influential bands of all time, and Brett never went back to his lying,
cheating ways again, and that made everyone happy.
And if you’re wondering what happened to Ryan. Well, he grew up to lead a
rock band, similar to Fuel, only to follow in the awful footsteps of his
father and lose everything that meant something to him, but unlike Brett,
he never got it back.
