Lies They Tell You in/About High School
- These will be the best years of your life.
Why it's a lie: You're trying to figure out who you are. You're having all these thoughts, feelings, and emotions you may have never experienced before, and they're all pulling you in a million different directions. And you want to fit in so you're afraid to be yourself. Then there's peer pressure, drugs, sex, and alcohol. Not to mention homework and trying to hold down a job, keep up with your friends, and have some time with your family. The best years of your life? What a crock.
- The school counselor is always there for you.
Why it's a lie: Okay, I know that a girl was dealing with some heavy issues, and she went to the counselor and said it was important and could she talk to her. The counselor asked if Monday would be okay. It was Thursday.
