It offers seamless provision of support services as it brings together learning and teaching, students and faculty, student athletes and non--athletes, and career and holistic counseling services. It offers: *Faculty and TA Development: --Helps faculty and teaching associates excel in teaching and experience the satisfaction that results from teaching effectively. This office provides information, consultation, and event coordination to enable instructors to provide students with excellent education. *Academic Learning Lab: --Purpose of this lab is to provide a "learning connection" for students in need of additional assistance and instruction outside the classroom. It covers such areas as: ~Learning skills ~Time management ~Test-taking strategies ~Academic motivation ~Learning from text ~Note taking ~Self-regulation strategies ~90 workstations will be available to students and faculty for learning skill development. ~It also provides services such as tutoring, review sessions, study groups, instructional software, sample tests, course packets and lecture videos. *Career Connection: --Professional career counselors are available to assist students in clarifying, exploring, and developing career goals. It also assists students in connecting with employers via internships and co--ops, on-campus interviews, and resume databases. In addition, students will have access to career exploration and job campaign materials. --It also offers: Individualized career counseling Career assessment Career workshops Job campaign assistance such as: Resume and cover letter critiques Interview techniques Job search strategies *Resource Suite and Atrium --Provides print and electronic resources for students and faculty. Books on teaching and learning, syllabus and sample test files, curriculum enrichment materials, career exploration software, resource guides to careers and a variety of other materials is accessible. --It also provides students and faculty an area where they can converse or work on academic tasks together. In the study lounge, there are study tables and sofa chairs available for use during the day and night. Groups for meetings, workshops, and collaborative tasks can sue the glass-enclosed conference room. *Student Athlete Support Services Office: --Assists student athletes in academic, athletic, and personal development. Coordinators, counselor, and staff help to foster growth in decision-making, planning, and the fulfillment of career and life goals for all student athletes. --CHAMPS program is a life skills approach to supporting student athletes with a philosophy of individual responsibility, encouraging each student athlete to value his or her educational experience. *Counseling and Consultation Services: --Provides guidance and counseling services involving interpersonal relationships, family problems, depression, anxiety, loneliness, eating disorders, substances, sexual concerns, or any other difficulties that interfere with a student’s focus on their academic work. --It offers: ~Individual, couples and group counseling ~Crisis intervention ~Skill enhancement workshops ~Psycho educational outreach ~Psychiatric consultation |
