The Origin (Chapter X/Paper 2) by Hazirah M. FIRST: 12042001 LATEST: 12042001 ---------- CHAPTER 4 ...???... "Cool!" squealed Shorty appreciatively. "Awesome!" The two figures standing before them looked at each other and smiled privately. They were private smiles as they only could see each other's smiles. No one else would have seen the smiles, for these two figures had no mouths. Frida and Heat were silent, but for different reasons. Heat had been shocked into silence. Frida was suspicious. "Aliens?" Frida said to the two figures as soon as Shorty was out of earshot. Heat had weakly agreed to explore with her. "What do you mean aliens? If you're aliens, do you not have anything better to do with your advanced technology and unbelievable intelligence? Do you not have evil intentions? Do you not want to meet someone of proper authority? Why, for heaven's sake, a dancing competition?" "Excuse us," said one of the twin aliens, probably through an unseen mouth. "But you're speaking of stereotypes. We are not evil. Nor are we really so intelligent with the advanced technology you speak of. Our ship is just like one of yours." "But nowadays aliens as portrayed in fiction and television are without those stereotypes," said the other alien thoughtfully. "Isn't that something?" "THIS sounds like fiction!" exclaimed Frida exasperatedly. "You two don't sound like you'll explain anything seriously now." "We won't," the second alien said, amused. Frida looked as if she could hurt them both really seriously. The first alien smiled at the second alien, then turned back to Frida and spoke. "Firstly, let us introduce ourselves. We're from the planet Capoeira, and sometimes we're called Capoeira, especially if there are two of us together. We do have names, though. I am called Kiki, and my friend here is called Lala." Lala bowed to Frida. "Pleased and amused to meet you!" Frida stared at the two. "You both look alike!" she exclaimed. "How am I supposed to tell you apart?" "We're still working on that," Lala replied. "We both decided we'd go for surgery and we'll look a little different from each other after that, but we don't want to do that now." "For the moment," said Kiki, "if you want Lala, you'll find him making jokes and being amused at everything. Lala is like that. I am a bit more serious. But other than that, I don't think there is anything by which you can tell as apart." "Very comforting," Frida commented. "Very amusing," Lala laughed. "Anyway," Frida said, ignoring Lala. "Can you just tell me what the dancing competition is all about?" "Long story coming," Lala warned, but Kiki had already started talking.
