Porter inside the Lab The forward (Node 2) end of the U.S. Lab, with the author shown for reference. For the duration of the tests I was involved in, the Lab had been rotated on its long axis counterclockwise 90 degrees. That is, the ceiling is on the left. None of the end cone closeout panels were installed, so you can easily see the guts of the Lab. There is an Audio Terminal Unit (ATU) above and to the left of me. There is a long white cable attached to the ATU that leads out through the forward hatch opening and ultimately to my test equipment located outside the aft end of the Lab. The hatch itself is the large gray panel on the left. The white square object on the lower left is a patch antenna that is a part of the Intravehicular Antenna Assembly.
