

All this must be pretty meaningless to outsiders viewing this site, so now seems a good enough time for explanation. Let's start from the beginning... have you heard of the SAT I, that diabolical test known to push high school seniors over the brink of insanity? Well, not only high school seniors take it. It is also used in talent searches, in the U.S. and abroad, to find 'exceptionally gifted young students' hiding amongst the masses. If your score is high enough, you can qualify for several summer programs designed to help you foster your specific talents. It's not summer school, or anything like summer school, so don't get that image in your head.

CTYI (Center for Talented Youth Ireland) is one of these summer programs, and it is held for two sessions- on in mid-June to mid-July, and one from mid-July to mid-August. Everyone included in this site opted to take the course called Writing for Life in the first session of 2001. We met in room CG03 for three weeks, with Abie as our TA, Yvonne as our teacher, and nonsensical graffiti as our wall decoration. The rest... well, you had to have been there.

In earlier years, we would have parted and that would have been that. Luckily, there's a lovely bit of invention floating around called the Internet, and through it we've managed to stay as tight as ever. Just like CTY, this is our place to hang out, to have fun, and to share our latest works (yes, we kept the writing up). Now that you know our story, it's time to be inducted into the tribe.
