Cash Crops:

Made Latin American economies very unstable

After independence, the Latin American countries were
forced to allow foreign investment, which allowed
others to have a say in their economic affairs.

Because of the heavy involvement of foreign investors
in the economies of the newly independent
countries, these investors also had power in their
government.

Military and Religious involvement:

Spanish army was spread throughout Latin America,
attempting to stop rebellions

Many Rebel armies were created to combat the Spanish
army, lead by people referred to as Libertadores.
Some church officials, such as Hidalgo, used their
power as a spiritual leader to convince peasants to rebel.
