The Crucible

Abigail
Abigail is in a red dress accurate to the 1690's. Hers is more angular because of the waistline treatment and sleeve caps. This gives her the appearence reminiscent of the devil.

Reverend John Hale
Reverend Hale is in nearly all black, as he is a minister, however, being a more liberal minister than Paris and his waistcoat is a dark green. His sleeves are removable via the lacings at the armseye. This is because in Act One, he is visiting on unofficial business, and doesn't require the formaility of a full jacket. Hoever, in the court he requires more formality, so the sleeves are added.

Elizabeth
Elizabeth is a hardy farming woman she is both physically and emotionally strong. I chose green for her dress, as green is a fairly unemotional color, it is also an earthtone which I thought represented her social role well. Where the other girls have collars and cuff, elizabeth has a laced up bodice showing the neckline of her shift, and her shift rolled up with her sleeves.
