Beams of light from the rising sun,
Creep quietly through the mist,
As the day is long, so it has begun,
As the earth moves towards her bliss.
And here it is I wait for you,
Silently and resigned,
Here it is I long for you,
Quiet and benign.
Please say you will come to me,
Here in the meadow on high,
Please find your way and come to me,
Before the day is fully nigh.
I hear your voice in every tree,
In every blade of grass,
Come to me and you will see,
It is not too much that I ask.
The spring is bubbling its rhythmic tune,
The birds are starting to sing,
Don’t hesitate for the light of the moon,
The day will guide you by its wing.
The dew shimmers in the growing light,
The sky glows in oranges and reds,
The animals begin to emerge from night,
And rise from their slumbering beds.
Here I am waiting for you to come,
Will you see me when you do?
I know not where you call home,
But I am watching out for you.
Do you love the morning,
As I love you?
Do not spend it mourning,
For our days are but a few.
Rejoice! Feel glad in all the world,
Walk through the morning dew,
Come to me through the mists that are swirled,
For I am here, waiting alone for you.
Say you love me, and I will as well,
Here in the meadow in the morn,
For it’s in the wild heart of nature’s spell,
That the care of love is born.
The sun is up above the hill,
Waking the world from its sleep,
I greet her with the fondest will,
And tell her not to weep.
For I know you’ll come to me,
All I must do is wait,
Please say you’ll tread the path to me,
And my longing for you will abate.
For all I want is to see you again,
To hear your voice, to see you here,
I just want all this pain to end,
And know that you are near.
In the rainbows stretching mile after mile,
I see you there, with your shining face,
As you turn towards me and smile,
Like you once did in this hallowed place.
I can help it no longer,
I cry for you,
I wish I were stronger,
My tears not to mingle with morning dew.
What beautiful things you see at dawn,
The memories of your heart,
Things you know are long since gone,
And have from you been torn apart.
And ever will you find me here,
Waiting for you still,
I know that you are always near,
In this meadow on the hill.
