Love
There used to be a time when, in this world, everyone carried a pouch around with them. They were given this pouch on the day they were born. And in this pouch they carried their Warm Fuzzies. A Warm Fuzzy was wonderful to hold. It makes people feel warm inside like they’d just petted their dog, or hugged their cat, or got a kiss on the cheek. And every person’s Warm Fuzzy was different, so they were wonderful things to give to people.
Everyone had Warm Fuzzies pouches, and such was the nature of a Warm Fuzzy that when one was given away, one just like it would remain in the pouch. And one could never lose their pouch, because it always stayed with them, and followed them around if they forgot it somewhere.
So there was, you see, no way that anyone would run out of Warm Fuzzies. But someone started a rumor. They told someone, who told someone else, who told someone else, that there was a limit to the number of Warm Fuzzies that could be drawn out of their pouch. And some people believed it, and they started giving out less and less Warm Fuzzies. Some people stopped giving them away all together.
One day a person made a different kind of pouch, but it would only hold Cold Pricklies, and Cold Pricklies were nothing like Warm Fuzzies, though they looked like them just a little bit. They were hard to hold, and the tighter you held them the more they pricked you. They were nothing like holding a kitten, or kissing a cheek. Nobody liked them. But, some felt, it was better than not giving anything at all, and started giving out Cold Pricklies but telling people they were Warm Fuzzies. Soon people began to forget about their Warm Fuzzy pouches, and how to give Warm Fuzzies to others, and only gave out Cold Pricklies. And sometimes they even fooled themselves into thinking they were really giving out Warm Fuzzies. And things went on like that for a long time.
Then one day, someone, no one knows who for sure, found their Warm Fuzzy pouch, and showed it to a friend who showed it to a friend. And so it went and so it goes.
