The Digital Grotto

I spent six hours at the CJSR booth in HUB, where they're collecting money from pliable radio listeners. I did a bit of phone answering, then I called my editor at See to see if they needed any Fundrive photos. Sure enough, they did.

I took this one on the way over. They tore down a bunch of old houses right next to the Mac's on campus. There was that dude in the wheelchair and the hardhat watching everything; I assume he was working.

Here's Rowena. She's in my Sociology 444 class and she just started doing fill-in shows on CJSR.

Ah, Zak. There's something hypnotic about this guy. His show airs Fridays from 1 to 3. I think he made something like $708 on his show.

I forgot to ask DJ Shyguy if he likes Super Mario Brothers 2, my favourite in the Nintendo series. His show is on Saturdays from 10 to midnight.

Stacey sent me to find bite-size Tostitos in a vending machine in the Business Atrium, and I wandered into this plaque on the second-floor wall of the Business Building.

This is around the time I figured out I could sell one of my photos to See. I think it's a little too contrived, though. And not a very good photo. If you don't know, this gangly fellow is Daryl Richel, Programme Manager.

Joanna did her show from 3 to 5:30; I forget how much money she raised.

Daryl!

Here's Stacey, the girl who sent me to find those chips. She rarely smiles, so I don't know how I snapped this photo.

I met Heather for the first time. She was a new volunteer, and this was the first time she was doing something for the station. She was showing me a photo she had framed, and I snapped too soon. She hates the way she looks in photos; she doesn't look like she wears that much makeup in person.

Daryl with Big Dougie Tokaryk.

Here's Daryl's first-born son, who he was auctioning off on Zak's show.

I think he looks sort of like Mike Nickel in this photo.

This photo is next to the word foxy in the Oxford English Dictionary.

Food came, and we all had soggy subs and bad pizza. This is the Original Tribesman, who does an amazing African show on Tuesdays.

Doug casually told us that he's starring in the dual role of Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde in the production that will be shown at Jekyll & Hyde's pub, that place where Annan used to drink when she was underage.

One final photo of the DJs from Sounds Ukrainian, which is on Fridays from 8 to 10 or so. Those Ukrainians sure are generous; this show dragged in a lot of money.
