You've always wondered if this life was just a dream
Or if anything is as real as it may seem
Sometimes you look in the mirror and see only you
And wonder if any of the lies told were actually true
You feel as if you've been locked in chains and sealed behind a wall
Maybe you wonder whose name you want to call
Did you ever put your trust in someone and come to regret
You have and now you just want to forget
Have you tried so hard and was told it wasn't enough
But in the end you stood up and acted tough
You see yourself walk to your lonely confinement
Feeling as though this life was just an assignment
Now you look out the window and see the world on fire
You feel the urge to go out and feel its desire
Then thoughts fly out into your mind, "Is this who I really am?"
You feel as though your soul is caught in a jam
Where should you go, what do you have left
Do you feel as though your life is just a theft
Thinking they're not real, you just want to leave 'em behind
But you will always know they are stuck in your mind
So when you feel all alone and down
Here's a poem that'll make you feel found
I was the one trapped in the corner knowing only hate
My heart held back, emotions locked behind a gate
But I found who I was through words that did not seem real
And these words, these thoughts, and poems I did not steal
This is me and this nobody can change
I found I was not alone and it really strange
But their friendship changed everything for me
I thank you now, thank you for setting me free
