First, a disclaimer:
I am definitely not the person speaking in the poem. It's just that
I noticed there are so many sayings that basically mean, "Y'know, things
aren't so bad!" Well that's bullshit. As the adages add up,
the desired effect is to reveal this type of pie-in-the-sky thinking for
the pathological absurdity it is. Hence the wolves dressed in sheep's
clothing (ie, those sayings are trying to disguise the fact that life sucks;
we've come full circle from the blessings in disguise at the beginning
of the poem). I know, I'm a cheery fella.
