Although Buddhism has very solid beginnings, and traditional artistic style apart from Japan, the introduction of Buddhism to Japan played a key role in the development of Japanese art; as the religion grew and branched into new forms, Zen in particular, Buddhist art took on many new faces and mediums. Japan is now a source of its own for new forms of Buddhist art, and this site will focus through images on the changes impacted on the Buddhist art world.
