Oakland along with Jason Hart, Gerald Laird and Mario Ramos for Carlos Peña
and Mike Venafro Jan. 14, 2002.
2001 Highlights:
· Opened the season at Double-A Midland in Oakland’s organization and
played 119 games with the RockHounds, batting .269 with 25 home runs and
96 RBIs.
· Named to the Texas League post-season All-Star team.
· Promoted to Triple-A Sacramento in mid-August.
· Finished the season with Sacramento, hitting .228 (13-for-57) in 17
games, adding 1 home run and 7 RBIs.
· Combined for 103 RBIs between Midland and Sacramento, tying for seventh
in all of minor league baseball in that department.
Career Highlights:
2000: Spent the season with Class A Modesto of the California League,
earning a place on the league’s post-season All-Star team...Ranked
second in the league in home runs (29), third in total bases (249), and
fourth in both RBI (102) and extra base hits (48).
Background:
Ryan Andrew Ludwick: Originally selected by Oakland in the 2nd round of
the June 1999 draft...Played collegiately at UNLV, where he was named to
the Baseball America all-Freshman team in 1997 after batting .354 with 16
home runs and 68 RBIs...All-WAC in 1999, hitting .381 with 13 home runs
and 69 RBIs...Had a .363 career average in three seasons at UNLV.
