Six Operating Systems

Software

Software is divided into two areas system and application software It is invisible on a computer disk.

Hardware

In hardware there are five categories which consist of, input, output, secondary storage, communications, and processing/ memory. Machinery works together to form the hardware of an operating system.

Data/Information

There are many means that data can be processed by, these include, fields, records, bits, bytes, databases, and files. They can also be put into sizes such as Kilobytes, megabytes, gigabytes and terabytes. Information is also known as processed data.

Communications

This is the transfer of data that involves a process. Communication can be spread by many differant means such as the phone or the internet.

Procedures

Procedures are basically instructions or steps that are put in a certain order to obtain a goal. A lot of the things that are put into a computer involve very exact instuctions so that the task can be completed. If these steps are not followed as they should be the whole purpose of even trying to input the information can be useless.

People

All people just like me blame the "stupid" computer every time something goes wrong, which is stupid in its self because really you are entering the information and if you enter it wrong that is your own fault. People can have faulty assesment of information needs, or have human emotions get in the way of the job getting done correctly, also human perceptions may be to slow.
